This needs some perspective.
TWENTY-SEVEN months for 27 offences — that was the prison sentence handed to Perth pervert Stuart Arthur Clarke yesterday morning.
It’s a sentence that has upset one of his repeat victims.
Clarke, 52, was caught in January following two years of reports to police of a man appearing at homes at night and committing an obscene act in full view of female occupants in Maylands and West Perth.
For each of seven indecent act charges and one obscene act charge, Clarke was sentenced to four months imprisonment.
There were an additional eight obscene acts and one indecent act which each received a punishment of five months prison.
Clarke was also sentenced to 14 months prison for two trespassing charges, 18 months for two stalking charges, and 12 months for a 1997 burglary.
However, all of those sentences are to be served alongside a head sentence of 24 months for two burglaries and three months for an assault on a man who confronted Clarke during a flashing incident.
With parole, Clarke could be out in 15 months.-- Victim of serial sex pest Stuart Arthur Clarke shocked by his prison sentence

Re:That's nice
Can't avoid it in parts of AUS. For example, I'm in Perth, WA at the moment and there have been several shark attacks over the last few years that have resulted in killings. But somedays there are crazy waves here and just people come regardless of the history. On average, it's not that dangerous. Still.
I'm no surfer dude. I'll stick to the patrolled beaches.

Re:Fucking ground this fleet.
What do service engineers have to gain by grounding the fleet - not much.
Australian service engineers were on strike recently about keeping QANTAS planes serviced in Australia to preserve Australian service engineer jobs. It's the Australian Licensed Aircraft Engineers Association that is calling for the planes to be checked now rather than when they are next due for heavy maintenance as Airbus suggests. I wonder if "checking now" (followed probably by "checking much more often") might make work for some Australian licenced aircraft engineers? While I am inclined to agree with them, I do have to recognise that yes they have something to gain.

This is good news... but...
The R18+ rating requires unanimous support from the Standing Committee of Attorneys-General, and the Western Australian government is applying pressure against the move. Here's a story on Perthnow giving the names of some of the MPs to contact and tell them that they need to support this measure.

Re:Let people be free
Ah, I thought it was the case in Perth where a guy jumped out of an ambulance ran across the freeway, got hit and had to be put back in the ambulance. I'd hate to do the paperwork on that one. Story here.

Re:Bunch of Asian Employees ?
Yes, the seperate schemes are a hangover from affirmative action of the 70's and 80's. As I posted in my reply to walshv007 the extreme benefits that no white man could hope for amount to an extra $6.50 per week. ANY student coming from a defined remote area can also apply for rental assistance, people living in remote areas tend to be aboriginals.
Ideologically I'm also not in favour of legislation based on race but pragmatically the aboriginals have not benifited from the so called "lucky country". Until very recently most lived in what can only be described as thrird world conditions, lost between stone age traditions and the 20th century laws.
We also have race based legislation banning the sale of alcohol in many of the aboriginal settlements, their traditional social structures are 40kyrs old and have never had to deal with alcoholisim until the last hundred years or so. Aborigines are also permitted to hunt otherwise protected species on their reserves. IMHO these laws are a GoodThing(TM). -
Re:Bunch of Asian Employees ?
"Call me crazy" - Ok you're crazy, $6.50 extra per week is hardly an "extreme benifit".
"Very few people would disagree that the way she handled politics wasn't very smart, or politically correct. However I believe racist would greatly depend on your definition." - Given you define two extra cups of coffee per week as an "extreme benifit", can you please explain your definition of racist.
"I just don't get it." - Yes, I figured that one out from your first post.
