Re:Maybe I read that wrong
They don't have an agenda
Are you sure? Because when I googled for "Cheryl K. Olson," the first hit I got showed that she is on the payroll of Big Tobacco. She has also been a "strategic communications consultant" for Big Pharmaceutical and Big Media. I haven't found anything (yet) to indicate that she's on the gaming industry's payroll, but her history reads like that of a professional shill, not a dispassionate scientist.

Re:An Open Information Society
One problem with an open InSoc is the potential development of a police state.
People break laws they don't agree with every day - including speeding, using illegal drugs (as opposed to legal ones), refusing to mow their laws, etc.
With no privacy, the American police system will either fail miserably, or will over-compensate, and we'll have no privacy AND no freedom.
I wish we COULD live in a society where one could do what they wanted, and no one questioned it, so long as what you do doesn't infringe upon another's rights to do what THEY want. This means murder would still be illegal, as would many other things we already consider "wrong".
The problem comes in with laws that criminalize "victimless" actions. I know, there's no such thing as a victimless crime, but personal choice, such as sexuality and drug use should be something society shuns, not something the government criminalizes. -
Re:Name the Next One Titanic
I do have a sense of humor but it would be difficult for me to mod this up as funny when the joke doesn't make sense. The former Beagle actually made it across those vast reaches and returned
;)
I have a sinking feeling (pun intended) that the guys who organized this are publicity hounds. The story says it was retired and sold, families lived on it, all this and yet there's a mention of "mystery" and what they might find of Darwin. Sounds to me like they found something that wasn't lost so much as thrown away.

Re:A few points in REALITY
Nicotine is actually a poison . Before downplaying the intake of poison I would learn the facts. As for cigarettes and the diseaes they help bring on learn about how they get those little numbers on their packs before thinking you are any less exposed.
Course, you could just prove it all wrong by soaking a pack or two of cigarettes in 32oz of water and chugging it after cutting off your phone service and access to medical help.

Kraft Foods is owned by Altria, not Philip Morris.
