Re:Numbers suck
Numbers don't always suck though.
There are plenty of sites that average review scores. Others have already pointed out GameTab and Rotten Tomatoes. There is also GameStats, Gaming Chart and Game Rankings
Game Rankings in particular is good because they include a "difference" listing for each site to compare how far their reviews are from the average of each game.
For example, you can see that the average PSX Nation review is 8.5% higher than the average. -
Anti-MS Troll?
pay them to do it.
Is there a free way to make first and second party games?
This is not unusual at all. Nintendo is probably the only one who doesn't, but Sony does this all the time. It's a good way to test the waters with a developer, as Sony has often contracted out games and then bought the studio. In fact, Sony did very much the same thing with Guerilla Studios to make their "Halo-Killer", and then just recently bought them out. I think EA did the same thing; hired out Blackbox for a game or two and then bought them out. Happens all the time. Suddenly it's weird because Microsoft is doing it? -
Might as well... fixed link.
The correct link to the SCPH-50001, the improved PS2. (Not the PSX)

How come nobody mentioned Portal Runner?
When I used to write for PSXNation, I wanted to review a game, any game. I thought to myself, what is a game that nobody in PSXNation claimed to review first. A thought went into my head and decided that I want to review 3dO's Portal Runner. To my suprise, Brian Gray sent Portal Runner through the mail and I went to my room and started to play it. I had the PS2 for several months and I hadn't played too many PS2 platformers, so I had an open mind. To my dismay, Portal Runner had the few rare qualities of useless iteam collection, cumbersome controlls, terible graphics, and a clichéd plot to boot. If you want to read my review in bad english, go to here.
Portal Runner is a part of the golden dung pile of 3dO's Army Men series. I don't know how it got popular, maybe due to some nice marketing and trying to cash in on a Pixar related success. Outside of the Heroes of Might and Magic and High Heat Baseball, 3d0 normally releases bad games (Godai: Elemental Force, and Dragon Rage are recent examples).

Iraq
Saddam is behind this push for distributed computing, he bought 4000 PS2's and realized that he couldn't cluster them together.

Tons of Links
I've made a small list of what seems to be a pretty complete list of the new PS2 info. If I've missed any, feel free to add-on.
Sony of America
Sony of Europe
Sony of Japan
PSX Nation
IGNPSX
Gaming Age
Next-Generation
Gamespot
The Magic Box
And then I'd also recomend you check out the MB's connected with some of those sites because there are some very interesting discussions in there. Also expect the major news organizations (MSNBC, ZDNET, CNN) to pick it up sometime tonight too. -
