Re:This is why
I guess my PWNie Express sticker is not helping me any?

"pwnies" sound familiar...
"Pwnies" are probably PWN Plugs from Pwnie Express. The original models were basically Sheeva Plugs, a raspberry-pi esque computer inside a wall wart form factor.
It would be interesting to see if these guys received products or training from Pwnie Express, a well known infosec vendor. -
Power Pwn: I want DARPA Fleshlights!
Hi, NSA, I hope you have a good day!
I can see variations of these being sold without informing the consumer of their real spying capabilities.

Re:We're living the a cyberpunk future.
It's super easy. Just grab some blue overalls, a toolbox, and a plunger.
"I'm here to fix the toilet."
The toolbox is full of sludge. Drop it on the floor and let it ooze out. People won't stick around when there's poop on the floor.
Then plug in one of these wherever you've got a recently-emptied desk.

Re:Three feet away...
Or build it into a wall-wart or power-strip in a high-traffic area. Like the break room, or the power strip the coffee machine is plugged into. Sort of a next-gen Pwnie Express or PwrPwn. . .

Pwnie express
With stuff like RPI/beagleboard this would be fairly cost-effective, and people may never even realize.
And some companies like Pwnie Express even produces ready-to-use devices for that purpose.
Check their Power Pwn for exemple...

Re:And the electronic garbage pile expands
BS. I own an N900 and a N9. Both quite capable of running open systems, including Android. Yet they're collecting dust because nobody I knows wants them, not even for free.
Ah, man, I'd happily take that N900 off your hands, I've been wanting to build a Pwnphone for a while, but can't seem to find the hardware for a reasonable price.

Re:Yikes
The shiny new phone that will only work on Verizon, non-US carriers after an unlocking, and the crappy regional CDMA carriers after an unlocking.
Only for the cellular radio. He can always use Wifi+Skype/Vonage/GTalk/Whatever for phone calls.
I can think of a few other ideas for a carrier-locked phone:
- install a pentesting distro like PwnExpress* and use it for, er, well, pentesting.
- root-and-rom it, and give it to your kids to play with
- App development: a dedicated device beats an emulated one any day of the week.
- e-reader/web browser
.. and I'm sure there's a number of other uses I haven't thought of.
*Yes, I know PwnExpress is for SheevaPlugs and N900's. It's just an example, yo.
