EXIF and hidden thumbnails
EXIFs can also contain thumbnails that can sometimes reveal more than needed after for example cropping the original.

sun4m and other "they don't exist, don't ask"'s
You are right - some of their older hardware that still is quite usable except for them cutting out support at inopportune times. They've kept 8bit cg* framebuffers yet dropped 24bit ZX's from existence. They kept [very limited] sbus in Opensolaris, yet have made a conscious effort to erase Sparcstations from ever existing in the code.
Should you run into a SunPC or similar, that will bite doubly for being Solaris only (and for versions that may not be in circulation).
Now if you run into something on the order of an E10k, and dont mind powering it, Sun would rather you not.
If they were to clean up Solaris 9 and have it up to speed as best as you can expect a SS/10 (or a Ross SS/20) to run it, that codebase would probably be fine enough.
When you have to pull teeth for their own hardware, they certainly are not going to be any better (See SunPC, E10k's with their hardware license keys) with Linux.
bmc, this definitely applies to you(and those who've dropped the axe):

Sue me, I use Linux
Wow, what a page!
Notice that this is https link with authentic certificate. This means everything is authentic and comes from SCO itself or seomthing like that

Re:Excuse me, but
You do not speak about same thing. I have been living in Hong Kong and visiting France often.
"Octopus" has nothing to do with VISA-like credit cards. It looks like credit card but there is no magnetic stripe nor chip contacts on it. It is distance-readable as door keys in some companies.Octopus does not require PIN code. Just show it close to reader and money is taken from it.
Smart cards in France are usual credit and debit cards having contacts on them. They need to be enteres into reader and chip is used to verify PIN code.
They nearly nothing common in use. Octopus is real fast method of payment, chip cards are not. Chip cards have big credit limits, Octopus does not. Their use is very different.

Salaries are too
Just compare executive salaries in SCOX and RHAT This explains a lot

RedHat is not Linux
Just after brief reading http://lwn.net/images/ns/rh-complaint.pdf I have opinion - court may refuse to process this case. This is because most of complaint talks about "Linux" but in legal world only "Linux" itself or empowered person can sue SCO. In legal meaning "RedHat" is nobody but some third person from street and can't sue SCO for "Linux". If "RedHat" is hurt, this is OK but current claim speaks mostly about "Linux" and this is not OK. I am not native Engish speaker nor lawyer, so I can be wrong either.

Re:Use a databaseHow about a database filesystem, like MySQLFS (mentioned on slashdot along with BeOS filesystem).
The only problem is, this project appears dead in the water. If anyone knows of an equivelant system, for this or another database, I'd like to know. It makes a neat way of being able to do queries, and still access the files directly through the FS. You can even end up with dirs containing all the files in your query, then just use that directory to input to whatever program you like - nice.

Re:mySQL filesystem
I am the author of MySQL FS. Yes it works but it was still not good enough to be used in production. I have not found any company which can support rewriting his code. In my current stage I can't afford spending month or more time without getting some revenue. But if this becomes possible I surely will rewrite it! I wrote some note on my homepage: http://no.spam.ee/~tonu/modules.php?name=News&fil

Re:Is Linux too busy catching-up to innovate?
lay off the crack.
linux many years ago added support for the inclusion of a host of low level fs drivers. the number and range of fs drivers for linux is pretty damn big. certainly bigger then any other os available.
now ofs is supposed to be based on a database? you mean like the mysql fs? and i think reiserfs has been exploring other avenues that relate to what ofs *might* be exploring.
unix is used in universities around the world to do all sorts of research. and linux is beginning to join it's older brother in that role so now the unix research (which can run on linux) is joined by the results of linux research too. these projects aren't always highly robust, nor are they in most linux distros, but they're out there on the web. lava lamp process stats, provide a ui model that has the fs as a collection of galaxies and planets, pie menus, corba in the kernel, kernel drivers in perl, etc.
a lot of it is arcane and hard to imagine it being successful, but that's the nature of research. -
Estonian Telecom does too
I have also similar case ongoing. What is the worst is that corruption is seems to be very wide in our country and when Estonian Telecom is interested, then homes of people can be searched using such paper. Hard to believe but true. Full story is available on http://no.spam.ee/~tonu/order.jpg
