    Aside from the fact that the actors in Star Trek Continues have acting flaws that are not identical to those of the original cast (i.e. they are just as talented/untalented as the originals, but don't have the exact same instinctive mannerisms), this is an incredible recreation.

    It looks far better than the passable recreation "Star Trek Of Gods and Men" (with Koenig, Nichols and Russ in it). http://startrekofgodsandmen.com/main/

    But I have much better hopes for the upcoming Star Trek Renegades (Koenig, et. al. second, better funded attempt) http://startrekrenegades.com/home/trailers-and-videos/

    It's a classic moment, but when they started out to save Spock, they where merely risking their careers by stealing the Enterprise and going to a restricted planet. They had no reason to expect they would encounter Klingons.

    The fan film Of Gods of Men raises more interesting questions about if the needs of the many outweigh the needs of the few.

    On a more serious note, I just discovered the fanfilm Of Gods and Men. Probably old news to the die-hard trekkies, but we casual fans don't get the memos.

    It can come across as a little preachy to some and not all of the action sequences make complete sense (I think maybe some things exist in the rendered scenes that never made it to exposition), but it's got Chekov, Uhura, Tuvok, and several other faces from the movies and shows. Worth watching during a bout of insomnia.

    Star Trek New Voyages is an absolutely amazing fan "series" and Star Trek: Of Gods and Men is an amazing mini-series (only part 1 has been released) and that are ONLY available online.
