3d game engines for movies?
This isn't the first movie/film type thing i've seen using a 3d engine for it's effects. Do you think Hollywood may catch on to using game engines for it's CG effects or movies? do you think this could be a way for amateur film geeks to do cheap SFX movies? As long as we're talking about amateur movies, check out Star Wreck. It's brilliant.

Re:Get a Real SF Writer to write a ST Movie!!!
Emperor Norton would finance his own movie using his own minted cash, playing himself as the star, but in this case, protector of the federation, and emperor of Orion, or some such. And he would very likely make it a better film than Nemesis.
That would be just ripping off Star Wreck. -
Pirk!
Aha, Star Trek spoof! For some reason I expected you people to come up with this instead, because that's one helluva funny spoof on Star Trek

Similar project
A similar project by finnish sci-fi fans has been on going for about four years. Their Star Wreck VI: In The Pirkinning movie will mix ideas from at least ST and B5 worlds.

Don't forget Star Wreck...
...when listing mad fan made projects.
Bunch of finns have been making a feature-length parody movie about Star Trek/Babylon 5 for the last four years. At least they are trying to put some original spin on it. Info and a teaser trailer can be found from http://www.starwreck.com.
I'd rank this second in technical finesse among fan films, just take a look at the picture gallery. The German Star Wars movie Tydirium is on a league of its own (they're using 24fps digital movie cameras etc.) -
