pick FUN for yourself
My B.S. is in Computer Engineering Technology
and I have a M.S. in Computer Science. In the
workforce people do not split hairs too much
about majors the way I thought they might when
I was picking a major. And for me, the
mixed-bag major of programming and hardware was
more fun than one or the other!

I agree with the readers who suggested to do what
makes you the happiest. I disagree with the f00ls
who wrote to "pick hardware, that's where the
money is." There IS and always HAS BEEN more
work on the software side than the hardware
side. There are far more programs than devices! -
Perhaps instead of AES...
we should stick to a system that offers "everlasting security" and stop depending on CPU cycles to slow down attackers. Dr. Rabin's Hyper-Encryption, anyone?

Re:where's my /usr/bin/SALVAGE.EXE?
you mean like this?

I heard this all the time, I even made an icon(s) for them

Re:A good plan
I totally agree. Whatever you do, though. Stay away from SUNY Institute of Technology at Utica/Rome in upstate New York. That place fucking sucks. I'm here and it's a complete waste of time and money. They don't teach you shit and the whole school is selling out to Microsoft. The last remaining UNIX lab on campus, they want us to dual boot with windows. So if I can't convince you to stay away, get a hold of me. I'll just have to pay you to stay away.
Goddamn, I hate that fucking school!!! -
Re:Um, I thought this was common knowledge...I see no problem with using GIF's for small images. In most cases they are smaller the JPG's of the same size (see here; I made these images for another topic but it shows my point). They are (as far as I know) lossless. Using JPG on small images is a waste, and often has noticible compression marks.
GIF's do come with baggage but no other popular format can do animation.

Re:Web API Implementations
Sorry for hijacking this thread, but in the last story about "google" someone mentioned that there should be a google topic on slashdot, and someone offered up these icons. Why isn't there a google topic on slashdot?

Re:Cool feature
I just quickly made a few. Here you go.

Oh yeah?!?!
Well just don't go to SUNY Institute of Technology in Utica/Rome hoping to do shit like that cuz the fucking school sucks. -
Rubik linksFirst, a Yahoo club to discuss the fastest algorithm to solve the cube.
Second, a best fast algorithm for solving the cube with downloadable source code
And last, a Description of how a 4d rubik hypercube would function along with a solver program for the hypercube.

Re:clear trademark infringement...The first release of X windows was on June 19 1984
I was looking at this document, which exists many places on the Internet. Yes, X had been in development for several years before '86 and had enjoyed several "non-external" releases.
Similarly, MS Windows, which debuted in 1985, had been under development since 1981.

Re:You are the weakest link! Goodbye!
X-Windows (The Xerox Windowing System)
How ironic. You attempt to lambaste another poster and show off your ignorance.
X-Windows was created in 1984 at MIT as part of Project Athena. Its name, X Window System, is because it was based upon an earlier windows systems, "W" for the "V" research project at Stanford. (References: here, here, here, and here.)
If you are going to attempt to be kewl RootAksess, might I suggest, you do some research first?
