Re:Forget dual-boot, I need a SELECT BOOT HDD butt
Hello sir,
I'm not sure it meets your exact requirements, but a Romtec Trios sounds like what you are looking for.

Re:That DIY HTPC just became economical!
For the case, here's a PC looking case, or a couple of more AV friendly cases by Zalman or a nice Silverstone that's almost indistinguishable from AV equipment.
As for regarding MythTV, if you buy your parts according to the Dragon reference system, you shouldn't have any issues whatsoever, although you may be spending a few more bucks than if you're willing to spend your own time working with a custom configuration of lowest $ parts.
And lastly, let me agree with the Mac Mini. It's slick! -
Remember Fluid dynamics
I've looked into liquid cooling for a machine, but haven't done anything yet. From what I've found out, an ideal solution is to go reservoir->pump->cpu->video card (if doing video card)->north bridge-> radiator->reservoir. You get max cooling this way. Introducing a Y splitter introduces another connection (in which liquid can leak) and split forces of liquid. The liquid will take the path of least resistance, so you might not get max colling that way. I've found that Systemcooling.com has a wealth of information. You might want to pose this question on their forums, as they do more liquid cooling and have people who have done many systems.

Re:External PSU
Absolutely. Having a ton of cables would suck. But I don't see why it couldn't be just one cable going to the case and then maybe even some sort of modular cabling system (a la xconnect) inside.
I don't think you need to extrapolate too much as in everything external, but the PSU in particular is bulky, generates a lot of heat, etc.
If you do want to extrapolate, however, I remember reading in a Wired Magazine a few years ago Sun had some plans for a technology where, if memory serves, any hardware would just be part of the network. Need a new HD, plug it into the network, need a second monitor? Plug it into the network. It might have turned to this JINI. -
Err...
Considering Thermalright already makes an almost identical version specifically made for graphics cards which doesn't take up as much space, and probably doesn't cost much more (or maybe even less), what's the point? The one made for GPUs seems to be better anyway, since it only rose 35 deg. C w/ a 6800GT (with is much hotter than a 9800 Pro).
