Re:The Best Kind of News
I'm more concerned with the world class inferiority/racial superiority complex that the chinese have going as a culture.
One, that's found throughout the world. Secondly China isn't one culture and just one ethnic group. There are more than 50 ethnic groups in Mainland China. And the Kuomentang or KMT invaded the islands of Taiwan, of which the largest is Formosa. The inhabitants of Formosa had more than 20 different languages. Those inhabitants call 28 February 1947 Taiwan's Holocaust.
Now I'm not sure about the written Formosan languages but the Mainland Chinese languages share the same written ideograms, spoken languages are what's different. I don't know much now, too many years have gone by since I last spoke Mandarin, but I have a niece who's goes to a Chinese immersion school for kindergarten.
Best thing that could happen to them is a lot of immigrants and a lot of interracial marriages.
The opposite is happening now, a lot of Chinese are emigrating to other countries. Now if a Westerner, Americans, Canadians, and Europeans, want to live like kings they can move to either China or India and get paid very well if they have certain skills. The pay isn't as well as in the west but the cost of living isn't as high either.

Re:Wow
Nope, Taiwan is the traditional ruler of China. China only ruled Taiwan for approx. 8 years before ceding it in perpetuity to Japan in 1895.
Japan was stripped of Taiwan after WWII and the Chinese were asked to manage it until the UN could help implement independence, which ended after 2 years when Kai-Shek invaded after being kicked out of China.

Re:Sigh
Taiwan is composed of all of the capitalists who were forcibly evicted from the mainland.
Chinese weren't evicted from mainland China, instead some 2 million KTM Nationalists fled Mainland China and invaded Formosa. There is a reason Formosans call 28 February 1947 Taiwan's Holocaust. Some capitalists stayed on the Mainland though, and had their property taken away. Others made it to Macau or Hong Kong.

Re:Don't buy weapons from your enemies?
This is why it's so important for Taiwan/ROC to continue programs like the Indigenous Defense Fighter, but the KMT is too busy irrumating the PRC to pay any attention to real interests of their own constituency.
Of course the KTM doesn't care about something Indigenous. Afterall 2 million mainland KMT Chinese invaded Formosa and subjugated 20 million Formosans. There is a reason Formosans want to remember 28 February 1947, "Taiwan's Holocaust".

Taiwan and Tibet
China's relations with other states in the 15th century was varied, and assimilation/domination of other cultures was definitely within their repertoire.
And hasn't changed, either: Taiwan, Tibet etc.
While many of those who've heard of Tibet know it was invaded by China, it's nice to see someone especially here on
Falcon /. that knows Taiwan isn't Chinese. When Chang Kai Chek's Nationalist Army invaded Formosa, Taiwan to many, between 18,000 and 28,000 Formosans were massacred by the KMT who then subjugated another 20 million Formosans. A date with a lot of meaning to Formosans is 28 February 1947. -
national violence
The United States' founding stands out as a rather large and violent example...
A more recent, and much more violent, example is China. Both mainland China and Taiwan were much more violent than what happened in all of the Americas. Up until the Chinese revolution there was no united China as there is today. Instead there were different independent nations. For instance Tibet, Tibet was an independent nation that had a defense agreement with the Chinese. As for Taiwan, when the Chinese Nationalist invaded the island of Formosa some 2 million Chinese subjugated 20 million Formosans. Formosans had their own Holocaust, 28 February 1947 wherein many thousands were massacred by Chiang's Kuomintang, KMT.

China and Tiananmen Square
People who dislike China tend to mention Tiananmen Square a lot, but they always forget the Tank Man is also a Chinese.
Some who like China also talk of Tiananmen Square, as well as how 2 million Nationists Chinese led by Chiang Kai-shek invaded and subjegated 20 million on the island called Formosa, meaning "beautiful island", by the Portuguese but now called Taiwan. After the invasion Formosans had their own version of the Holocaust, 28 February 1947, which led to the massive slaughter of thousands of Taiwanese at the hands of Chiang Kai-shek's Chinese troops. Both sides in China have a bloody history.
Also, did you know Mao and Chiang and got started in the same political party? They both were members of Sun Yat-sen's Nationalist Party. They were also related by marriage to each other. Both married daughters of the Soong family.

Re:fingerprints
The choctaw.
I'm not sure how much or from what tribe but my parents have told me I'm part Indian. An uncle on my moms side says the same thing but he told me to get the info from her. Appearly she won't talk about it because it a "dirty secret". As she has a French Canadian background I believe it's Ottawa or one of the Iroquois Confederacy tribes. My dad also has a French Canadian, er Acadian, background I don't be supprized if there was Indian in his background as well.
And a small group of people but still numbering in the millions wants to kill us- mainly because we make them feel bad because they are so backwards but partially because they are educated from birth that we are "monkeys" and not human. At 4 years old they are pledging to commit suicide killing us. At 5 years old almost a decade ago, they were cheering in the streets when we died.
Who are these people? Do you mean Arabs and other Muslims? Thinking of bin Laden? You may not recall or know this but bin Laden only started his war on America because the US stationed troops in the Holyland, Saudi Arabia. After Saddam invaded Kuwait there was a concern he may invade Saudi Arabia as well. bin Laden told the Saudis his al Quada would defend SA if Saddam attacked, but they declined his offer and asked for the US's assistance. It was only after this when the attacks came, he wanted the infidels out. Prior to the Kuwaiti invasion the US had indirectly supported bin Laden. We supported the mujahideen in Afghanistan, of which bin Laden was a member, in their fight against the Soviet Union.
As far as the US making people mad, it's only right that many do hate the US or at least the policies of the US. The US has a bloody past, it has assasinated or supported those responsible for killings of leaders in other countries. The US helped in establishing the Shah of Iran in power as well as Saddam later. It supported Gen Pinochet's overthrow of a democratically elected government in Chile after which thousands were killed and tens of thousands simply "diappeared". In other parts of the Americas it supported regimes in Guatemala and Honduras while many Mayas were massacred, and the Contras while they were terrorizing many in El Salvador. In the Middle East the US continues to support Israel, even after Israel attacked the USS Liberty. On the other side of the world the US supported Indonesian President Suharto's invasion of East Timor, this dispite a congressional bar for such aid. Pres Ford and Henry Kissingergave Suharto the greenlight for the invasion. After the invasion about 200,000 East Timorese were killed, that's one third the populationof East Timor.
Fact is is there are plenty of people who quite rightly have the right to feel hatred for the US.
Again- the problem is that in an age where even a 16 year old can kill 10 to 20 people, you really don't want people sworn to killing you so they will go to heaven wandering around unsupervised.
I'd have to say I'm the opposite of you, I'd rather keep my liberty and take to chance of being a victim than give up any liberty for a little temperary security. As Benjamin Franklin said, paraphrasing, "Anyone who gives up liberty for a little safety will get nor deserve either." Besides it's government that is the biggest threat to both liberty and safety. Look throughout history and you'll see the biggest massacres were done by governments or those trying to seize control. Most recently it's been Hitler, Pol Pot, the Rwandan government, Soharto, and Stalin. Saddam, who the US supported might be added as well, as well as Chiang Kai-shek led KMT's invasion of Formosa, otherwise called Tiawan. 28 February 1947 was Formosa's Holocaust. Some have also said Mao was responsible for 50,000,000 dead.

Nah, china's not expansionist.

The race has begunThe anti-sat laser race began years ago. Whilst the US was cutting back defense research into all but the most pork laden projects, China was pushing a serious military space strategy. This included new ICMBs, satellite and anti-sat and guidance technology. All very dual use for their manned program, but by comparison we've been looking the other way whistling whilst a non-democratic expansionistic country that tends to threaten our major trading partners and threaten first strike nuclear assaults against the US is building weapons to cripple the US military.
My response to reading the article: duh!
Here are some recent articles on the developments in China. The US is not starting this race, but it'd be nice to keep up regardless.

The world is, a dangerous place. As with Sudan and Iran, the UN is no deterrent to aggression. Enlightened self-interest directs us to investigate these types of systems for the same reasons we investigate lethal pathogens. Surviving them requires understanding them even if we never intend to use them.

people's perceptions of the US
The worst fears of the US have been proven true, we have no friends, we only have other countries who feed, like parasites, on us and then sunder the relationship when it no longer proves convenient.
And the worst fears of the rest of the world have been born out, that the US is a big bully that will do whatever it wants, if has to lie then it will, if it has to invade another country it will. Many people now look at the US as a danger.
Where are all those WMDs the adminitration said they knew exactly where they were? Powell even showed the Security Council photographs of mobile chemical weapons labs, where are they?
It will be interesting to see what happens when (not if) China decides to grab Taiwan
I hope "China decides to grab Taiwan" never happens militarily. If Formosa decides to unite with mainland China that's one thing but China using armed force is totally another. Formosa, Taiwan, had already been invaded by Chinese when 2 million Chinese Nationalists led by Chiang Kai-shek invaded and subjegated 20 million Formosans. 28 February 1947 is still the date to be remembered by Formosans, as Taiwan's Holocaust. This massacre led to many years of repression.

Chinese invasions
They are illegally occupying many thousand sq. km. of our territory (just like Pakistan) and all this happened with the blessings of the US.
In 1959 China also invaded and still occupies another nation, Tibet. But before that invasion some 2 million Chinese Nationalist being driven from China invaded the island of Formosa suppressing 20 million Formosans or Taiwanese. Ooh I see you mention Tibet too.
``28 February 1947''
Taiwan's Holocaust RememberedTake the worst possible example of rights violation you can think of. I guess you're thinking of the Nazis.
Nope! By the end of WWII during Stalin's reign some 20 million Russians lost their lives because of Stalin.

Re:TAIWAN, Republic of CHINAAccording to this site:
Taiwan's modern history goes back about 400 years, to the day when the first Western ship passed by the island, and Jan Huygen van Linschoten, a Dutch navigator on a Portugese ship, exclaimed "Ilha Formosa" (Beautiful Island).

Re:Eggroll?Of course they rejected it. 70 years is essentially an entire lifetime. 50 years gives the other people a chance.
Actually this is more true than you realize:
[P]eople on the island [of Taiwan] enjoy a longer average lifespan than other Asian peoples.... 1
70 years is anywhere from 2 to 10 years shy of the average Taiwan lifespan. This is significant because the US and Taiwan have pretty similar average lifespans. This rejection is about freedom of knowledge, not picking a magic number for copyrights to outlive most of their holders. -
Re:Taiwan is NOT a country
I believe that the United Nation has said something about that... here is some info.

Good Troll!
Read history below:
http://www.taiwandc.org/hst-1624.htm
How can Taiwanese people have Japanese last names? Damn you stupid trolls! Japanese written language is based on Kanji (which is basically Chinese). The official language of Taiwan is Mandarin. There isn't a way to write Taiwanese because it's just a dialect. Therefore, the only names people who live in Taiwan can have are Mandarin Chinese names that are written in Mandarin too!
Futhermore, the Taiwanese dialect is almost the same dialect spoken in the closest Chinese province to Taiwan. The customs are similar too.
Understand, you stupid motherfucker?
Fuck the PLA. How's weapons training going with the wooden guns?
