[Zec 14:4 KJV] 4 And his feet shall stand in that day upon the mount of Olives, which [is] before Jerusalem on the east, and the mount of Olives shall cleave in the midst thereof toward the east and toward the west, [and there shall be] a very great valley; and half of the mountain shall remove toward the north, and half of it toward the south.

Re:Not aggressive enough.
If you are going to measure Carbon Emitters by Land Area, then the top 5 polluters are Netherlands, Belgium, Italy, Japan, then Germany. The USA would be 10th on the list, and China 15th.
Looks like Europe needs to get their act together, they have 8 out of the top 10.

FlowCharts can be very useful
Talk to them about flowcharting:

http://www.telusplanet.net/public/stonedan/pict02.jpgWhen you have a nasty task, a simple flowchart can be a big help.
The above 2 charts are the flowchart for hi-liting TEXT search results.

Once I threw out a program I was struggling with and did a flowchart that evening. The next day the program ran first try. That doesn't happen often. By the time I decided to throw it out and start again, I knew the problem inside out.

Re:Incredible
sure Series 71 810 ftlbs @ 1200 rpm 290 hp governed at 2100 rpm (supercharged & turbocharged/aftercooled), that's some serious power. Detroit Diesel 2-Cycle Engine has video and sound clips of the various engines. Hummm a 2-71 would give you about 80 HP and one interesting and very chopper.

Re:Psychiatry and MMORPGs (my 2c)
You might be interested in sort of an informal essay I wrote last year - it was in response to a friend claiming that game items have no value, but it ended up going into what makes an MMO world any more real than another game.

This is what happens...
Maybe it's not the first trojan targeted at Linux users, but together with the official sounding domain, it could trick some users into downloading and running the binary.
This is an unfortunate reality today. Back in my day, the only way to be a real Linux guru was to compile and build your system from scratch using a dev box.
Nowadays, any average person can easily install Linux and instantly become "31337". Today's typical Linux user has no idea what half the files on his system do, or where they came from. Unforunately, the majority of you with moderator points fall into this category so my post is doomed!
I would advise those who are new to Linux to visit the Linux From Scratch website and set aside a weekend of learning. There is no better method for gaining useful knowledge regarding the reduction of hard drive clutter and increasiong optimization, and security. -
Orson Scott Card's genocide connectionThere is a small town in Southern Alberta called Cardston. I lived there for a while, when I worked on the neighbouring Reserve(*). I didn't realized there was a connection with Orson Scott Card.
Maybe I should have. I knew Card was a Mormon. So was the founder of Cardston, one Joseph Ora Card. His little homestead is preserverd at the southern end of town. There is a little plaque there, saying he was the first Mormon to leave Utah and settle in Canada.
Orson Scott Card's book "Seventh Son" takes place around 200 years ago in a parallel universe where magic works -- little magic -- not world-shaking magic. In the sequel his little hero spends some time learning native magic.
And Scott dedicates that book to an ancestor of his, whose life was saved by natives on the Canadian frontier.
Well, I heard the native's version of this story too.
First a little context. The Blood Reserve is about 600 square miles. Their own name for themselves is Kainai, which translates as "Many Cheifs". They were part of the Blackfoot Confederacy. They were one of the Plains Nations which had depended on the Buffalo.
Well, their version is that Joseph Ora Card arrived on the land Treaty Seven had granted them, and threw himself on their mercy. His wives and children were ill. Would the natives feed them? Would the natives let them stay, over the winter, in this little valley?
The elders were compassionate. They let Card, and his sick family, stay over for the winter.
That winter they were struck by a horrible smallpox epidemic. Two thirds of the natives died that winter. They had more serious problems to deal with than to wonder why the Card family had not left, as they had promised.
In their version Card wrote to Utah, and invited all his friends to come join him.
The Oldman River forks just upstream from Lethbridge. The natives oral tradition is that Treaty Seven granted them all the land between the two branches of the Oldman River, to the border with the USA. There is a Blackfoot Reservation just the other side of the border there. Is possession 90% of the law? Mormons settled all the land south of Cardston, to the US border.
The natives believe that Card stole a big strip of their land.
Personally I think Orson Scott Card was extremely insensitive to write that dedication, given the animosity between the natives and the Mormons in that part of the world.
What is the genocide connection? Where did the natives get smallpox? Might it have been from Card's family? His wives and children were sick. That would certainly be tragic. In fairness, there are other theories of how the natives came to become infected. Still Joseph Ora Card doesn't seem to have hesitated to take advantage of the natives who had been kind to him.
(*) The Canadian government calls them "reserves". The American government calls them "reservations".

Re:ExperiencesWell I want to confirm everything said by Lanner regarding the Netopia routers but I wanted to add my experience.
One thing that you should know about the netopia if you have used it is that if you like a command line interface similar to a Cisco router instead of the menu interface you get at first just hit CTRL-N and it will toggle between the menu and command line interface. There is a manual for this command line interface you will need since there is no online help available at http://www.netopia.com/equipment/pdf/manuals/CLI/
C LI_49.pdfIn terms of my experience using the netopia R910 and R9100 models they will do pretty much everything you could want from a device at this price range. I setup a VPN with 5 R9100's using IPSEC encrypted with 3DES (Only supported if you add the encryption card) and it works great. Also if you are comfortable with the slightly reduced security of PPTP you can setup a small number of users for VPN using just the normal microsoft PPTP client software included out of the box in Windows98 and up without needing a Windows NT box with RRAS installed.
If you want to serve multiple web sites most of the cheap router/firewalls cannot utilize any more that 1 IP address on the WAN interface which means you can only map port 80 once to an internal server. With the Netopia you are able to map multiple IP's from the WAN port to internal servers. This means that if you want to map port 80 on your second static IP to a different server, you can. The only problem is if you get multiple IP's via DHCP I don't think you can do it, but that's understandable.
Some other features that a power user might like are SNMP manageability, Radius client for configuration logon authentication, PPPoE support, AUX port can be hooked up to a modem for dial backup, optional Appletalk support including AURP for tunneling, DHCP address serving, syslog event logging support, and more!
One of the only areas I personally have found a bit weak is in the routing area. The netopia R series only supports RIP but not any of the more modern protocols like EIGRP or BGP or anything like that so you pretty much need to use RIP which I have always found requires certain prayers and offerings to work, or use static routing. Oh but one nice feature is that you can insert static ARP entries using the command line. This is useful if you are on subnetted ADSL and need to be able to communicate with someone else on the same class C as refered to in this local providers FAQ

The internet is bloated as is!
Why is there this trend to make webpages so *graphical* and so *media enhanced*? Geez, as long as a browser supports ASCII it should be up-to-date and supported. Any webpage that uses excesive sound/grafix/some other crap is useless anyway. All webpages should follow this example!!
