Re:Netherlands called, says you're an uneducated f
"There is no such thing as "thriving" under socialism." - https://www.google.com/search?q=netherlands+gdp&oq=netherlands+gdp = says you're a moron.
You think capitalist Netherlands is socialist?
Socialists don't have stock exchanges.
How about Denmark's Prime Minister:
Speaking at Harvard's Kennedy School of Government, Danish PM Lars Løkke Rasmussen told students that he had “absolutely no wish to interfere the presidential debate in the US” but nonetheless attempted to set the record straight about his country.
"I know that some people in the US associate the Nordic model with some sort of socialism. Therefore I would like to make one thing clear. Denmark is far from a socialist planned economy. Denmark is a market economy,” Rasmussen said.
“The Nordic model is an expanded welfare state which provides a high level of security for its citizens, but it is also a successful market economy with much freedom to pursue your dreams and live your life as you wish,” he added.
Did you catch that "LIVE LIFE AS YOU WISH" part? I bet that's the part that won't sink in....
Get a refund on your education.
Jesus H. Mother Fucking Christ, you're a moron. And the sad thing is, you probably think you're smarter than those "deplorables".

Re:Very Impressed - this woman has done her homewo
None of those countries are socialist. The Prime Minister of Denmark had to explain that to the very intelligent kids at Harvard not all that long ago. All of the Scandinavian countries are capitalist countries with high income tax rates that are paid for by a larger percentage of population as well as a VAT. Also, up until recently, they all had much lower corporate income tax rates than the U.S. They didn't raise theirs either, we just cut ours to a similar level that they have.
Those countries also have several various other factors that are distinct to each, but also not socialist. For example, Sweden has a voucher system for schools and as a result a large number of charter schools. Norway doesn't have a government mandated minimum wage. I wonder if you'd like to see the U.S. implement those socialist policies?
I suppose if you want to relabel free market capitalism as socialism I can't really stop you, but you may want to wrap some copper wire around Marx and put a magnet on his tombstone so that you can generate electricity while he spins in his grave. -

Denmark has some news for you
There is something Denmark would like you to know:
https://www.thelocal.dk/201511...Forbes explains it further:

Re:Socialism, falsified
Those countries aren't socialist though. If you don't believe me, take it from the mouth of their Prime Minister. Up until Trump's tax cuts, they also all had lower corporate tax rates than the United States. Sweden has loads of charter schools, which are obviously a well known feature of socialism.

It's even better when there's an animal in the picture. Try this one for instance: (photo of lady with Great Dane).

Re:That's because...
Norway and Sweden
Norway and Sweden have decent social services paid for by capitalist economies. They are farther toward capitalism than socialism.

Re:thanks slashdot
That's social democracy. Even Denmark's PM is frustrated by this new push to change the definition of socialism.

Re:The gulag is SOOO much better!
When I talk about Socialism, I am talking about the government taxing the populace in order to fund services that the government provides.
In the words of the immortal Inigo Montoya, "you keep saying that word. I do not think it means what you think it means." Taxing the population to fund services is NOT socialism. Socialism is government control of the means of production. Quick sanity check: is Denmark socialist? If you answer this question wrong then you need to change your thinking. Here's the definitive answer from Denmark's PM himself.

Re: Sears
Socialism is government control of the means of production. A market economy with a welfare state is NOT Socialist, no matter how many times Bernie Sanders lied to you about it.

Re:Muslim attack in London
4 out of 10 muslims want sharia law in my country. They can never be my friends. 77% thinks that the quran should be followed completely.
So I guess that somewhere between 25-55% are ok, but the rest are my enemies.

Re:And this ladies and gentlemen
For instance, in Denmark, even the postal service is privatized.
Something that conservatives have been long pushing for in the US as well.

Denmark has a far simpler solution, and it seems to be working. (Is the lack of test tubes a turn-off?

the Nordic ModelThat's another part of the Nordic Model: when the state demands stuff from you, you comply; budgets get balanced; union power and concerns are secondary to social and budgetary concerns; you go to university and get a Ph.D. at the discretion of the state. It also means that you accept this conformity willingly and impose it onto your fellow citizens.
If you want to read more about the flipside of the Nordic Model, read "The Almost Nearly Perfect People" by Booth. Then think about whether you really want to live in a society like that.

Re:So let me get this straight.
We do have a great candidate available who isn't an idiot and supports America's true interests. His name is Bernie.
Yeah, Bernie is a "great" candidate. @@
He isn't a "socialist," he is a Socialist, he says so himself. The most likely outcome if he becomes President is aiming for Sweden and achieving Venezuela.
The PM of Denmark had to correct him: Danish PM in US: Denmark is not socialist
