They were made by Plus Development Corporation, which was bought by Quantum, which was bought by Maxtor. It's basically IDE, with the drive and controller card integrated on one full length ISA expansion card. Here is an image.
I still have a Hardcard II XL 50 in an old 386DX20 that I still have due to an old EPROM programmer. It's a pretty good hard drive.

Sure... I even do daily for certain reasons (don't ask). However, have you recentlyseen a 5 1/4 inch floppy? Worse, have you seen (if you even remember those, I do) a 8 inch floppy?

Why, when I was your age, we didn't have them new fangled hard media. But our floppies were 8 inches, and by god, we liked 'em!
