Re:meh
There are still a few hotline servers left active, as well as several trackers.

The official client is kinda... clumsy, and since Hotline SW isn't in business anymore, no more updates. But there are a few open source clients and the official client works under XP still. -
You mean like...
Tracker-Tracker.com? That site has been up for ages, but only because of the difference in architectures between Hotline/Carracho and Bittorrent. But I still say that the author of Bittorrent should think of a way to create something like, it seems readily possible.

Re:Cuz of all the warez
Cuz most of the warez out there is for Windoze.
;)
Au contraire. Granted, the tides have shifted - four years ago the availability of Mac warez was simply AMAZING while getting Windows warez was a pain in the ass; it's now much easier to get Windows warez than it was, and increasingly more annoying to find good Mac warez. Still, there's a hell of a lot out there for the Mac, and 90% of all Windows software is CRAP. -
Re:I have a question... Is DL'ing anime fansubs le
What the fuck are you doing on Kazaa to get Anime? Get Hotline, then after a while when you have accounts on good servers, you can download the latest anime a few days after the DVD comes out... in Japan. Of course, it requires a bit more effort since you have to fill people's request and find servers, but it's well worth it.

Nice . . .There's no official Adobe press release yet, but there's a VersionTracker page for it,
That's nice, but I was hoping for a Tracker-Tracker page for it. Since after the DMCA wielding bastards had Dmitri arrested, it'll be a cold day in hell before Adobe sees another thin dime of my cash.

Re:VPN!
I've always wondered how feasable it would be to set up a LARGE virtual network on top of the internet. The problem would be making sure that only trusted people get onto it. Once you have this large network, you'd be free to do whatever you wanted on it, with not much worry of law enforcement, government, or clueless people interfering with your work.
you mean like Hotline or Carracho? They're not exactely for "trusted" individuals only, but they are a network on top of the internet, with their own protocols etc. and normal people (like lawyers :) don't really know about it. -
Is Napster like Hotline and Carracho?I wonder what the differences between Napster, HotLine and Carracho are. All of them seem to allow to temporarily serve files and chat sessions from your local computer to the world, obviously intended for mp3 and warez trading. I think HotLine and Carracho are mainly popular in the Mac community. They seem to have some sort of tracker site to make it easy to find servers. Anybody knows more?
