Re:regulations
"Can this technology used for making weapons?"

You just have to learn to think like this guy
and turn yourself into a human one of these. -
Tricorder fantasy.
You wanna know what I think? Maybe not. Anyway, here's what I think...
I think a bunch of marketting types have been watching Star Trek twenty-four hours a day for several years now in an effort to get to know their most covetted target audience, the alpha geeks. They've come to the conclusion that we technical types fantasize about an all-knowing, all-powerful tricorder type of device which confers success, smartness, and admiration upon its owner.
And I think they're mostly right. Most of us want success, smartness, and admiration, and we'll happily pay for a device that'll bring it instantly. The perfect all-in-one gadget is the holy grail that geeks sought long before the invention of the transistor. It's the reason for the constant evolution of the Swiss Army knife, and the Leatherman. It's the reason that people keep building cars that fly, sort of. The gadget that beats all other gadgets is the nerd version of a no-hassle weight loss system, hair growing tonic, love potion #9, etc.
But ultimately, they're wrong. When we get over our dreams of world domination and ultimate hipness, most of us realize that what's really important is having the right tool for the job, not some feature-laden gadget that flies, sort of.
After all, true fans realize that even on Star Trek, the tricorder, camera, phaser, etc. are all different devices. -
Re:UKers don't have freedom of speech
Yes.
And they can defend their right to free speech.
Uh, wasn't it Mao that once said "All power comes from gun barrels"?
I refuse to go to the UK for a few reasons. Guns being a minor one, but CCTVs and such bull manure being the main one. And oh, if I can't even carry a Victorinox Cybertool in my vest pocket for the idiot fear of getting arrested for carrying a weapon, this country doesn't really need my Tourist dollars.
It wouldn't hurt if the Brits got their behind kicked around by the Germans again. They have become socialist sheeple who unconditionally believe their nanny state will care for them.
It actually does. By taking away their freedoms. One by one. -
one word: manpurseGet yourself a manpurse. They're sometimes called a "satchel", a "kit bag" or a "courier['s] bag". Put your technology in it. Add a few other things from your pockets such as your cellphone and the big Swiss Army Knife as well. Then get used to carrying it. You'll look better, honest.
I got mine for under ten bucks at a local swap meet. It has slots that fit PCMCIA cards, a big pocket for my Newton MessagePad 2100, pen/pencil/stylus holders and a good spot for flat documents. On vacation it doubles as a camera bag, and of course the cell phone pocket on the strap means never having to figure out which pocket I put it in.

The best gift I have ever given
Time and again, for anyone over the age of about 12, I love to give the Victorinox Swiss Army Knife. Every geek needs one, but then, so does everyone else. I have given Swiss Army Knives as gifts many times, and I always hear back from the person, saying that they find it extremely useful and that it was a great gift.
The knife is possibly mankinds oldest and most valuable tool. I use my knife every day, for cleaning my fingernails, cutting tape on a package, prying open the jammed CD-ROM, and so forth. I feel every human being ought to know how to handle a knife properly, and the best way to learn is to do it, constantly, from as young an age as possible. I have sliced open my hand with my own knife doing something stupid, and believe me, this is the best way to learn how not to do something stupid with a knife.
Plus they start at only ten bucks, but go all the way up to over a hundred, providing a good range of prices for rich and poor alike.
[Please remember that a knife is safer when it is extremely sharp. A blunt knife requires more force to cut, and therefore is more likely to slip.]
(I do not work for Victorinox, nor do I sell knives; I'm just a fan.)

No, Victorinox.Read the History of the Swiss Army Knife.
Victorinox made its first delivery to the Swiss Army in 1891, Wenger was founded in 1893. But today both, Victorinox and Wenger, deliver their knifes to the Swiss Army.
But anyway. Tomorrow I will head to the factory (it's on my way home) and buy such a Cybertool.
