Turn it into a MAME machine!
Build or find an arcade cabinet and use one of the computers as a MAME emulator. You can use an old monitor or TV for a bigger display, and you can even build an arcade-style joystick by taking apart a cheap PS2 controller and hooking up arcade buttons to it. There are lots of places that sell the buttons as well as plenty of tutorials on how to build joystick controllers. Here's a couple sites: http://www.xgaming.com/arcade_buttons.shtml http://wrongcrowd.com/arcade/parts.shtml

Re:Even more reason to have nothing to do with it
Agreed. I liked it so much I even flogged it on my web site. Primer is a great film.

And, they are harvesting email addresses
I held my nose and went through the comics. At the end, readers have a chance to vote for the outcome.
"Hey Kids! Now it's your turn - use the buttons below to vote for what happens next, then check back here in September to read the continuing adventures of Captain Copyright!"
The "buttons" are actually text mailto links. OK, bad design, but it also kind of seems sneaky. Well, who knows what else will show up in the captain@captaincopyright.ca mailbox... not that I would advocate anything like that. Oh no. I'm an old man now and very responsible.
Lastly: allow me to present my reply to the BSA Copyright Weasel and this Capt. Copyright fellow:

Re:Technical considerations?
It's actually pretty simple to watermark a video with an imperceptible quality loss. Check out this sample frame.
After you watch a few movies this way you won't even notice it anymore! -
Re:I've observed something...
I saw a couple of episodes and I thought, "eh, this is OK."
Then I saw the RIGHT 2 episodes and I got hooked. After that, it was allll good. Right now, Stargate has my vote as best SF on TV at the moment, and best SF on TV ever next to Bab 5 -- and it's a darn close second. (YMMV)
Keep watching. You might get the "click" too.
For the current fan: Stargate wallpaper at my web site. Scroll down. (yes, I made Stargate wallpaper and I am 30. The show makes me carry on like a little kid again -- I like it that much. Crazy.) -
Re:Never buy IBM Drives
Were they of the 75 GXP series? Those are (now) known to be turkeys.

Re:Change the rules, be realistic about conflict
How do you fight someone who is not afraid to die and is not afraid to use the innocents around him?
You can only fight that battle on the enemy's terms. Mark my words, to end this we will have to sink to their level and end some. We will be the terrorists in the end -- but it be over someday, and it will be worth it, compared to what we would get by pussyfooting around "establishing dialogues."
Like others have been saying, all the civilized nations need to declare war on terrorism and those nations that harbor terrorists. If that doesn't work, then ultimately the rule of law is in danger, GLOBALLY.
If the world's greatest powers can't prevent commonplace terrorism, everyone's screwed, even the silly peaceniks in their little bitty countries posting on here about how awful America is. Those people better wise up, because if we go down, their time will come too. -
Re:What can be done about terrorism?
I think that you have some good ideas on cutting off the financial support.
I still support military action. Rather than rehashing my own words for the nth time, I will readers to my hopefully non-ranting essay. -
Re:Is a virus worse?
start using a hosts file that routes ad servers to 127.0.0.1. I've been doing it for a while and it really helps. Got started with hosts files from some web sites, added new servers as I found them.
Here is my current hosts file. Mac users, you need to reformat the info... Apple just HAD TO BE DIFFERENT.
Anyway, this is no cure-all but it does bust a lot of ads. I've been lazy about keeping it updated but it should help a bit. -
Been there, done that!
A while back, I hacked a PC keyboard up so I could plug hand buzzers and other controls into it. Idea being, you mash a button and it registers a keystroke.
On my site I cover, with photos, how to dissect a keyboard for this purpose. The photos are crummy, sorry, this was years ago before I had a nicer digital camera.
Once you have wired up the keyboard, get an industrial foot pedal or three and stomp away! You can get foot pedals at Grainger.com. I bought one and used it for a home-made Time Crisis reload pedal.
