CANADA? You have got to be kidding me
You didn't actually mention Canada as a bastion for free speech rights, did you? Go ask Mark Steyn, who was just tried for human rights violations by some scary Orwellian thing called the Ontario Human Rights Commission for commenting about Islam. Clearly, you cannot speak your mind freely in Canada or some "human rights" tribunal will have you in the dock.
Same thing in Finland. Don't criticize religious groups, or even offend them, and don't criticize ethnic groups, have a site linked to alleged child pr0n, try to produce scary films, or even try to criticize censorship in Finland!
None of those things could be done in the US of A. Nice try though. -
Holocaust deniers
In case anyone is wondering what this "denial of Holocaust" is all about and what exactly is being denied, there is a summary available.

They bow to Germany too...
German law (article 130 of the German penal code) bans a great deal of internet sites dealing with historic revisionism, especially sites which arrive at the conclusion that the holocaust itself (holocaust meaning the systematic executions in the death camps) never happened or if it did happen then not in the numbers and dimensions which are found in the "official" schoolbooks. Sites that have been banned on Google Germany include sites such as http://www.stormfront.org/ and http://www.zundelsite.org/ etc. to name a few.

Re:OK, I'll bite
This is a different anonymous coward.
A lot more is required for tyranny. A strong, overly patriotic feeling. Willingness of random strangers, neighbours, and relatives to tip off the authorities. Basically a police state indisguise, with broad public support. I, for one, am confident to say that this is not going to happen anytime soon in Germany.
If one would remove the word patriotic from your statement, you'd find that you're arguing for tyranny. If someone supposedly "denies" the holocaust because they note that while Auschwitz's total death count went down by three million from 1945 to 1990, the six million jews figures remains inert. You want to ban speech that forces people to tip off the peace police, and of course this doesn't happen in Germany.
You must feel cool to parrot out the psuedo-intellectual liberal speech they train you Germans from birth. Makes you feel comfortable, not having to think for yourself, aye? Makes you feel warm to be nested under the mothering wing of obedience. -
Re:Hello, my name is The_Fire_Hose and I'm a troll
Yeah ignore this but you can't deny it.

Zundel
The Zundel case highlights the sheer hypocrisy of the government of Canada in terms of human rights. No a lot to expect there, either.

Re: What would Uncle Sam do? Guess again...
One wonders how the US government would react if a foreign nation tried a similar approach.Well, the answer would be that they would extradite the person, even if he had broken no laws in the United States, and the only crime committed in his totalitarian home land was a "speech crime" that is a constitutionally protected God given right, according to the US Constitution.
You don't think so? Read here.

Re:I have a right to slander?
>Or do you take "Freedom of Speech" to mean that I can say things that are not true?
Yup. Well, it is in the USA. Not in Canada. But in the USA, if you want to say "All jews are faggots" you're more than welcome too (just don't try to do it in my store or home).
>So telling a lie (as in slander) does not come under "Freedom of Speech".
If you'll check out the above, it does. As an example of how extreme this freedom of speech right in the USA can be, here's a couple of sites hosted in the USA, one of which runs for president yearly. The other one chosen simply because the man running it was arrested in Canada for "abusing" his right to free speech, and forced to move his opinions to a less oppressive country. Do I agree with either of them?
HELL NO. But that doesn't give me the right to force them out of my country. Or does it?
Hope that helps!
