It wasn't so long ago that the powers that be were hyping the threat of the Communist Menace, bullying the gullible into believing that the Reds were literally everywhere, trying desperately to undermine our God-given Democracy and abrogate our precious bodily fluids. The modern "War on Terror" is little more than a ploy by the Cold Warriors cast adrift by the end of the Cold War to capitalize on the anxiousness of the common man. The godless Communists were defeated by the heroics of Presidents past, now we have to be ever vigilant for the excesses of the Hyper-godly Islamic Terrorists, every one of which want's to deprive us of our "God Given Liberties" and behead us all with their flaming sword of Islamic Justice.

By jove, it it weren't for the gallant efforts of the FBI, CIA, NSA, DOJ and the rest of the Armed Forces, we'd all be praying to Allah and suffering under the yoke of Sharia law. If it weren't for patriots like those at the Godly "Three Letter Agencies" keeping vigilant watch in Baltimore and across the country, we'd be overwhelmed by the Islamic Hordes, forced to worship a false God and anyone who believe different would be brutally murdered in the streets.

I mean just look at the glorious Democracy we left behind in Iraq. It's been undermined by the Satanic vitriol of Islamic Fundamentalists, and if we don't send more American boys to die there we'll surely be swept asunder by the rising tide of the Islamic State.

What this world needs is to be overseen by the Brave Patriots of the US armed forces, and all dissidence to be stamped out by the Virtuous US Military. If we kill all the Islamists, who would be left to question the Hegemony of the USA?

Maybe it's just my white privilege talking, but I'd imagine that as foreign invaders go, being conquered by the US is a damn sight better than being taken over by the Russians or the Chinese. I'm sure they're all just suffering so much under the thumb of the US government and it's tyrannical dictates. It must be a white-christian conspiracy to install this piece of scientific infrastructure on their holy site, and in the process smother all that's sacred in their precious little native culture.

Maybe, just maybe, they should be thinking "Well, it sucks that the US took over all those years ago, but we could be being raped for all we're worth by the godless Chinese. Maybe being part of an (admittedly dysfunctional) Representative Democracy isn't so bad after all." Or just keep yapping about how Whitey is fucking you over, even as the white devils let your precious little native culture continue to exist in the first place. They also don't care about their disposable citizens. Right? OK. So why is it that those countries vaccinate their citizens? It's not for the profit motive of drug companies, because those are owned by the evil socialists. It's because they cheap out and practice preventative medicine so that they can keep working the proles 112 hours a week, and you can't do that when they're sick.

But tossing aside the Fox-news-watcher-ready wrapper, it's true: absent a profit motive, every organized country in the world immunizes their citizens so that they don't get sick as much. Do you really think China gives a crap about GlaxoSmithKline's margins? Hell no. They use vaccines because it's far and away the best possible investment into keeping people healthy.

There is literally no valid greed-based explanation for vaccinations. It's dumb when you consider the American health system, and utterly braindead when you look at the other 95% of the world's population.

That's a pretty common debate tactic for people on your side though, I see you got the memo. The problem is the corrupt influence of money in politics. There is a tremendous amount of money in politics today. The Citizens United ruling not only does nothing to help that problem go away, but it magnifies the problem tenfold. You can go on and on about how corporations should have the right to free speech and frame yourself as some sort of valiant defender of the constitution and your opponents as godless communists, but the fact is that the CU ruling made the problem of money in politics and the corruption that goes with it exponentially worse. Consider the fact that Hillary Clinton believes she needs a goal of $2.5 billion to win the election. That equates to spending $20 for each American voter. That's the problem, and all of the lobbying and backroom deals that go with it. But I know you're just going to ignore the issue and instead talk about how much you love the first amendment, so you just go right ahead.

OK, you will have to repeal the first amendment. Free exercise precludes any form of taxation. That is unless you are willing to tax people to exercise their other civil liberties. Good luck with that. Next you will have to formulate a basis for taxing faith-based organizations. Most businesses pay taxes on profits, not revenues. Churches generally don't have shareholders, etc. so no profits. If you are going to tax donations, then you will have to do the same to every non-profit. Good luck with that. Then you are going to have to deal with our founding documents, like the Declaration of Independence, which clearly asserts that our rights are endowed by a Creator, not granted by other men. You may be resentful of religion and people of faith, but they have created the system in which your liberties are guaranteed. Such cannot be said for godless totalitarians.

Forcing a pastor to marry someone they convictionally believe is ineligible to marry is about as pure an example of violating religious beliefs as you can find.

Nope, depending on what "marry" means in the U.S. right now. Because the U.S. government is not "God" and incapable of "religion" by its very nature.

In fact, this is what "God-given rights" means. It means your rights came from "God" (i.e. not the government) and you were born with them, they were not granted to you by a man-made government. This is the basis of the U.S. constitution, for a very long time.

Any issue of "marry" under current definition is not of a religious nature. Matters involving government, by their very nature, are not of a religious nature, and vice-versa.

For a government to take any stand on what is and isn't "religion" is a loss of freedom. They are separate things. Man-made government is not "religion."

If religious people wish to hold a special right to discriminate, they should themselves lose any right to be protected from discrimination. Or they should shut the fuck up

Yep. And if you are tax-exempt, you are not a "religion" that is known as "godless communism" since you are forcing everyone else to subsidize your beliefs, and they have no free will in the matter. That is not "God's plan" at all, insofar as Western religions and the U.S. system goes.

When you equate the U.S. government to "God" this is called blasphemy and treason.

As soon as the government is involved (such as marriage status) then it is no longer a religious issue. You can argue other things, but U.S. government matters are not religious.

    http://www.constitution.org/bouv/bouvier_b.htm

BLASPHEMY, crim. law. To attribute to God that which is contrary to his nature, and does not belong to him, and to deny what does or it is a false reflection uttered with a malicious, design of reviling God.

This is well-established. Noone cares who anyone "marries" except for how this affects legal issues of a government (not religious!) nature. If you want legal protection and some separate legal status for such unions, under the U.S. government, that is no longer a religious issue, by it's very nature.

Implying the U.S. government "God" or capable of "religion" is both treason and blasphemy.

You lose. If you want to "marry" someone or not, noone is stopping you. If you want government to recognize that, it is no longer a "religious" issue.

Ultimately, all you are saying, is you care not for the U.S. government, you only care for a government in line with your religion. That is not the U.S. system, never has been. In the U.S. the government is not "God" and not "religion" and incapable of those things, by definition.

If you want to blasphemy, go elsewhere. If you want to "marry" people or not, without that having any legal binding, noone cares.

If you want to effectively be a government employee and bestow upon people special legal rights and status, then that is not "religion."

You can't have it both ways. If the government is not "religion" then there is no "violating religious beliefs" because someone making government contracts is not, by definition, doing anything of a religious nature in the first place.

If you privately "marry" people and don't require the government recognize it, then you are doing something of a "religious" nature. Is this under attack? If anything

    http://ojp.gov/fbnp/

the "religious" people seem to be engaging in blasphemy and treason as well, because they like taxpayer handouts.

Why are you not complaining the government is interfering with your religion there? Or with tax-exemption?

Seems like blasphemy is blasphemy anytime you imply the government is "God" is it not?

Is the U.S. government "religious" and "God" or not? You can't have it both ways. The well-established U.S. system says the direct opposite.

This is basic stuff, not hard. Why do you purposely lie and try to muddy the waters? I can forgive ignorance. Are you ignorant of these basic facts?

Even things like unemployment, we require people look for full or part time work, in the same field. We standardize on 40 hours / week as "full time" for everything. This is written into law in many spots. We don't care about "markets" at all.

We are all about "freedom through work"

If that is not communism, the government forcing (a million incentives is indistinguishable, again, to the conquered) everyone to work the same number of hours a week, what is?

We just do socialism and communism only in favor of for-profit "private" corporations who are propped up over and over with public (taxpayer) money and exemptions and bailouts...again, to anyone footing the bill, it makes little difference what labels the "redistribution" is justified under.

"capitalism" and "free markets" with a million "incentives" and "tax breaks" and exemptions and subsidies and bailouts...it is indistinguishable from communism and socialism and redistribution by the government...it just happens to be communism for (many times global) "private" corporations, that's all.

We pretty much force everyone to subsidize for-profit players so our pretty graphs look good and the stock goes up. That is the U.S.

We have centralized and State-run everything, from education to currency to religion.

Even the "right wingers" who rant about Jeebus are tax-exempt (merging of "God" and "the State" is godless communism 101). They don't notice the irony, they just want the $$$.

No, the U.S. is 100% communist and socialist...it is just for "the corporations" and not "the people" ... it is a private club, and you are not invited.

U.S. government figures rant all the time about "how many jobs they created" and they pull various levers when they need X people entering Y field for projected $Z / hour.

It is all State-run markets. They hate free markets. Crony capitalism is fitting, yes. But again, to the vanquished, "communism" and "socialism" are indistinguishable.

In the U.S. we outlaw all private business that is not government-sponsored...it is the same effect.

Once you have a government of any stripes managing everything, for whatever supposed reasons or ideals...they all start to look the same at that point, there is no line they won't cross.
