Next-Gen Apples To Include 1394b, USB 2.0

seletz writes: "According to this article on The Register, Apple will ship its next-generation PowerMacs with USB 2.0 and double FireWire. USB 2.0 boosts data transfer up to 480Mbps, FireWire 1394b goes up to 3.2Gbps." It may seem a minor point, but the more and faster connections are built in, the less frequently the upgrade gremlins have to strike. 3.2Gbps!

There are numerour replies to them... However Slashdot, in it's utter crappiness, is broken (as usual) and isn't showing the number of replies on the homepage.

looking down the road at new hardware and faster versions of X (10.1), this will be true for almost nobody. And, right now, throw enough RAM at it and X is great on anything > 400MhZ. And, on my dual processor g4 OS X doesn't feel slow at all, not when running native apps and not running Photoshop, Quark, and Illustrator.

Think for a second - which comes along more often: revolutionary OS design, or astounding hardware advances? We've gotten used to the hardware improving by leaps and bounds, without really having too much other than games that can take advantage of this. Now there is an OS that really does combine the ease of the Mac OS with the strength and versatility of UNIX, and so we've had to wait a few months for the hardware to catch up to it. Whats the slowest Mac these days?

So by that do you mean that Macs are for people of a more 'loose' nature?

Maybe you mean that Macs are for 'loose' women? Or maybe you just mean that Macs are for promiscuous people in general?

    Please enlighten us.
