Spintronics in your Future?

slugfro writes: "Do faster boot times and RAM that maintains memory after shutdown sound interesting? This article by a Science Magazine author details the study of utilizing the spin of electrons rather than just the charge in electronic devices (hence the name 'Spintronics'). Anyone out there researching this or have more info?" We do a story about MRAM every four months or so, and each time commercial development is a few years in the future. :)

If the story wasn't that interesting the first time why would be interesting this time?

Now what I want is to go into a store and get a full fledge PDA for 100$, not 599$ or 459$, etc...

Who cares if it has 256MB of ram, a 24-bit colour display, 16-bit sound, a 1.4ghz cpu...

if it costs a g$ its not really worth it.

I figure it this way. PDA's are just sophisticated gameboys. You can't tell me you bought yours to keep track of your appointments, etc. You're a nerd! get a grip!

    This is such crap, please
    no more science. As a
    daily slashdot reader,
    I want more video game
    reviews and movie reviews.
    Perhaps a lot more comic
    book reviews.

    And please lets talk about
    how sucky windows is and
    how great linux is.

    Besides, its completely unethical
    to exploit electron spin with
    the express consent of said
    electron.

There weren't any more details.
