Who Works During the Holidays?
While sitting here at my computer, plugging away at tending the bin,
I started wondering who else might be hard at work, instead of
enjoying what most in the world (especially in America) would consider
"the Holidays". I've stumbled into working this season for the second
year in a row, and I find myself not bothered much by it at all. If
you had asked me even 5 years ago if I would give up my Christmas
vacation for work, I would have laughed and answered with a resounding
"No!". Have any of you fallen into similar behavior? As an aside, what
Holidays do many of you find yourselves working, whether it be
Christmas, Thanksgiving, or some other Holiday, what drives you to work
when others are enjoying their time off?
That you call yourself a guru betrays your true position in life: fulltime dipshit/loser.
I bet that all of your days are filled with people complaining that the printer isn't working, and you dazzling them with your ability to change out the toner cartridge.
The fact that Christmas is a national holiday is a violation of the seperation of Church & State, IMHO. I would much prefer that everybody was given a 'floater' day off, which you could use for whatever holiday you celebrate (Jewish holidays suck up as many as 13 vacation days some years (no, I do not get 13 vacation days)).
Yes, I worked on Dec. 25. Being Jewish, it was just another Tuesday.

Reading this message board makes me sick sometimes. I understand that there are people of other religions that do not celebrate Christmas. But aside from that, it is obvious that the large majority of /. readers are humanists who need to straighten out several things...first their beliefs...and second their priorities.
It is sad to see that indoctrination of evolution in public schools has caused so much of the scientific community to accept the ridiculous world view. Well, I guess it's just another sign of the times. We are getting closer and closer to a one world government just like the Bible predicts. And of course the only way to effectively establish a one world government is to get people to reject religion. That is where evolution comes into play. It all fits together so clearly. Hitler said,"Let me control the textbooks, and I will control the state." Anyway....all of this is a huge tangent that deserves much more consideration than the few words I have spoken here. Secondly...whether you people are religious or not...can't you take one day off to relax and be with friends or family?! Or is money more important? True, I am sitting here on the computer now, but that's only because everyone else has gone to bed.
