The Lone Gunmen Are Dead
Mike Perry (And many, many others) writes: "In an astounding move after the cancellation of the show, Chris Carter killed
off the Lone Gunmen in tonight's episode of the X-Files. After a short
introduction that re-introduced the group as trying to save "a world that isn't too kind
to idealists," the episode progressed until the Gunmen realized their destiny
with Langley's quotes about Joey Ramone, and then Byer's quote "We never gave
up, and we never will. In the end, if that's all they can say about us, it'll
do." The episode then built to an ending where the Gunmen group gave their
lives to thwart a bio-terrorist financed by a business tycoon.I don't know about you guys, but back in the prime of the X-Files, these guys
were as close a role model as I could find on television as a kid. I was
deeply disappointed with the cancellation of the show (sure the pilot sucked,
but the next few episodes were good). I feel glad that these characters were
allowed to retire with dignity before the end of the show."
CD: Oops, sorry about the spoiler, when I scheduled the post I miscalculated the timing. I know, I'm evil. I promise I won't ruin the next 4 episodes or however many they have left.
yeah i know, i typed that in under 5 seconds to get FP (that accounts for the misspellings), ridiculous eh? I wish there were a way to vote a comment for meta moderation. In metamod they probably wont' see that it is FP.

Why are you posting? I thought the point of the blackout was to force the 'management' to sit up and listen to the voices of the masses. (Or listen to the silence when they stop talking, if you like.) Was this the perfect exception? I really am curious. Why?
the great slashdot blackout? don't you know? it's one giant conspiracy by the editors to trick people into posting! and we all fell for it! :)

I will *never* access /. in such situations again.
/. when Rob openly insulted his users. I guess I have to post one more time to say I won't be reading /. ever again because of this ridiculous spoiler. Thank's for ruining the show /. When a site admin loses sense of reality and becomes abusive, it's time to leave. Goodbye.
I swore off posting on
Yeah, I think Chris did this deliberately. He's trying to goad people participating in the blackout (many of whom said they will still be looking at the front page) into responding. In a day or two, there will be an article about how Slashdot is being sold to Microsoft, and how everyone can soon use Passport to login automatically.
