When Mac Freaks Congregate

abhikhurana writes "Wired.com has an interesting story about a recent get-together of Mac Freaks in Amsterdam. Apparently to pass the time, they amused themselves by tossing Windows PCs, making Mac porn and holding a look-alike competition to find the best Ellen Feiss look-alike, the teenage star of one of Apple's new 'Switch' commercials. I especially enjoyed Mac porn, but hey, if you are under 18, don't click the above link ;-)."

    I don't ever want to hear anymore sanctimony about from Europeans about how wasteful Americans are. Tossing computers? How is that anything other than wasteful? I'm sure it was a great catharsis for all involved, but c'mon now.

    Wow, maybe I'm just getting old and bitter?
    But I don't see how this is "newsworthy" at all, except maybe on the macfreaks.org web site itself?

    It strikes me as yet another attempt to drum up some more support for Apple's platform -- but it's a pretty pathetic one. "Come on, join the Mac revolution! You too can perform stupid stunts like tossing old Windows-based PCs and look at porn!"

    Wake me up when a group of Mac users accomplishes something truly significant and new/interesting with their machines. Right now, they still seem to mostly be playing "catch up" with the PC world. (EG. The distributed computing projects like SETI@home and United Devices' search for cures for cancer are milestones in personal computing. But where was Apple at the forefront of that revolution? Nowhere....)

    You're expecting somebody else to take their own time to convert something because you don't want to take 30 seconds to install QT? Go take a flying leap.

    I'd do her anyway and so would just about heterosexual male. The average age that people first have sex in the U.S. is now 14. So chances are if she isn't already doing the horizontal bop, she soon will be. The only reason I can think of not to sleep with her is the time I'd spend in jail if caught.

    Some people say she looks like a stoner. I think they're right, but shes still awfully cute.
