Xbox Live Goes Online

abhikhurana writes " Internetnews is reporting that Microsoft has launched Xbox Live broadband gaming service. To access Microsoft's service, Xbox gamers have to buy a $49.99 starter kit, which includes 12 month's worth of access to the Xbox Live service and a headset kit for voice communications. Microsoft said that about 16 games with online play capabilities will be available by the end of the year. So has anyone already tried it? If so, what do you think about it?"

This is the 1.0 product, though. Microsoft doesn't even come close to getting it right until 4.0 or 5.0...

    Well personally...

I am still waiting for the best title of 'em all... Linux on XBox - Apparently it has been done before so I don't think it would be a technology barrier...

If they are indeed banning users of modchips, I have no problem with it. One of the things that has killed [the enjoyment of] online games in the past is cheating. If you don't have a modchip in your box, you are much (probably a few thousand times) less likely to have the ability to cheat.

"just to get on some awesome CS server where within minutes a bunch of losers with dialup come on and ruin the game for everyone."

Yea dam those loser dialup users who make up the Vast majority of Internet users. They should all have to move to densely populated areas that offer broadband and they should also have to pay double what their paying now.

Dam them all. Losers. Who do they think they are trying to enjoy online gaming. The nerve of them!
