Bioware Releases Neverwinter Nights Linux Client Beta
valedaemon writes "Well, I thought that the world would end before this day dawned, but Bioware has finally made good on its promise of a Linux client for Neverwinter Nights. You still need a Windows installation in order to copy the game data, but the good news is that the downloadable is only 4.4 MB. I could write more, but why? Go play!"
Having plenty of Karma built up, I'm going to blow some on what will undoubtedly be a post modded to oblivion as "flamebait" or "troll".
I think the OS snobs of the world, should stop expecting game companies to expend the resources needed to include your OS in their support structure. Writing a version for NWN that works with Linux was a big undertaking for Blizzard.
Maybe they just expended the effort to please the Geeks of the world, but I seriously doubt that the number of people who refuse to use an M$ operating system make up enough people to warrant them writing a different version of the game for financial reasons.
Furthermore, I think those of you who refuse to run an M$ Operating System should stop your whining and complains when a game producer does not expend the effort to write you and your few friends a different copy of the game.
I could care less what your issues are with Microsoft, but if you want to play the newest games and play them when they release...either give up that dream, or save game developers, programmers and the rest of the world from your pleading complaints and capitulate to using Windows on one of your computers.
Craenor - patiently awaiting the flame mods
They originally said the Linux client would be released in the box along with Windoze and Mac. Since it has taken them 9 months since the original release to get this out the door, they could not, in good faith, believe they had any chance of meeting that deadline.
BTW, sucks to run a Mac, don't it. hehe
