Take 2 announces Space Colony for PC
Nathan writes "Take 2/Gathering and Firefly Studios have announced Space Colony, a new PC game allowing gamers to run a Space Colony, with the most dysfunctional crew ever assembled, whilst fighting off aliens and attempting to make a profit. The game promises a fresh style of gameplay, and should hit the retail market around September this year."
...aim for September and you might make it by Christmas. I wonder what percentage of PC games actually stay on schedule? 20%? 10%?

Here's the first screenshot. The game's developed by Firefly, who are made of ex-Impressions developers - the Impressions people's resume includes Zeus, Pharoah, Caesar, and Great Cthulhu. OK, all except that last one.
Step 1. Assemble disfunctional Crew
Step 2. Fight off aliens
Setp 3. Profit!!!
Yipee!!
There are 01 types of people in this world. Those that understand binary, and me.
Looks like one game I'll look for when it comes out.
I like the notion of having to run a disfuntional group... makes things so much more interesting
Or does everybody know something about this that I don't?
I apologize for whining. But I don't want to see this section get trampled with unnecessary and lame game announcements. I figure that since this is a relatively new section some offtopic input isn't completely destructive.
Looks can be deceiving... Alpha Centauri looks like dogfood the second time around, but I still had many an enjoyable experiences with it (and the expansion). And I still play Diablo II (Looks almost exactly D1), and starcraft... Their graphics are far from top of the line, it is the play value that matters, not the visual polish... And I'm sure everyone has at least one game they got/played that looked great, but was terrible to play.
My inner self is ineffable, so don't eff with me.
Well. The main reason that I said that is that from the screenshot you can tell it's a Sims clone, and I was never a big fan of the Sims. It's not the visual polish that seems bad, but rather the gameplay that would go along with it.
And, of course, it could play totally differently than I'm imagining. Still.
There are no trails. There are no trees out here.
this sound rather similar to a game that already exists, called "startopia," which was made by Mucky Foot. great game, it played similar to dungeon keeper, in ways.. but on a donut-shaped space colony.
