  1. 4 week training? on Employers Need Wind Power Technicians · · Score: 5, Insightful

I'm thinking these folks are underpaid & under trained.

I got more training that that as a newly hired first year apprentice with my power company, on top of my apprenticeship board required education. And I still had to work under direct supervision until I got my journeyman ticket.

Unless there's a lot more to it, they're likely not qualified, and you'll see the electrical and mechanical trades start a fuss over it.

No idea when or how many PS3s should be expected in the short or long term. Games and accessories also arrived with this shipment.

Nintendo on the other hand, has delivered us all the Wiis we've been allocated for launch (27, up from the original allotment of 15) as of today, and has confirmed another 21 will be arriving within the next 2 weeks.

  5. Sony has more than just number of unit issues. on Fewer PS3 Units Tomorrow Than Hoped For? · · Score: 4, Interesting

Today's the 16th. One day before launch.

We finally got 1/3 of our (reduced) allotment of launch date PS3's in. The other two are who knows where.

No launch games have been delivered, nor have any of the accessories.

Sony, in it's infinite wisdom, seems to have given ever box it's own purchase order number. Which means that the carriers make no attempt to keep all the boxes together, which they would with a single P.O. number.

So, we have 2 PS3's. No games. No accessories.

Nintendo however has nearly doubled our launch allotment of the Wii.

It's like asking whether painting is art. If you are painting the Mona Lisa sure, it's art. If you are painting your house, maybe not.

Actually, there are quite a few areas in which public schooling could be improved, even in Canada.

A number of classes are simply rehashes from previous years, history, english and health being the most notable, and such classes are mandatory at a provincial level, so you cannot simply "opt out".

In many cases technology courses are taught by people who have less understanding of the subject matter than the students who are in the class.

Certain courses that allow one to discover and expand on talents or enjoyable persuits are being cut, or are on reduced funding, such as music, art and even the "trade skill" classes.

At present the school system is fighting for funds to simply maintain their current levels, never mind expanding their possibilities. Unless you happen to live in a particuarly well off school district.
