Microsoft to Clean Up Code

the_pooh_experience writes "Microsoft has decided to beef up their security group by adding a code cleaning group according to Infoworld. As the director of MS security engineering says: 'Microsoft is a long way from its ultimate goal where users can take security for granted in its products...the majority of viruses written attack Microsoft products.'" The new group is called Security Engineering Strategy and while it may seem long overdue to many, it's still a step in the right direction for the folks in Redmond.

As close to their admitting the code is full of bullshit!

Please, OSS people need two things to start their morning. A good old shot of caffeine and a healthy dose of anti-MS vitamins from slashdot. It keeps them living in the dream world that OSS is superior

    I happen to disagree.

I find SCO the most secure and stable OS out there and no IP issues!.

Boy, those guys at SCO sure keep innovating one nifty feature after another.

They are so secure there. I mean only Irix is known to be as secure as SCO openserver.

Your first point isn't true - lots of MS functionality is carefully kept in different libraries so that it can be easily patched.

Just because they came up with the standards they use doesn't mean they can't be made secure.

3 and 4 happen fairly constantly with Linux as well.

And just because a project is big it doesn't mean that working with it is impossible - it just means it'll take a fair few of Microsoft's thousands of developers.

There's only one right step for the "folks" in Redmond: resign immediately, or be reconciled to dedicating their lives to pure evil.

I know this sounds like a troll, but I really mean it.
