Was curious how these guys could send text messages to people looking like they came from you (because there's no way for an app to get its hands on your phone number) - but realized from TFA that the user was prompted to enter their mobile phone number into a text box (and no validation was done on that).
So, for idiots, it might look like it was coming from you. But there's no F'in way I'm entering my phone number into an app I download from the app store.
After playing quite a few of these games, I have seen this pattern too. I can look at a ticket (I'm a fan of the crossword game), and look for the less-common letters, and know basically whether or not I stand a good chance of winning.
The problem here though - let's say I buy 5 tickets and don't scratch them because they all appear to be losers. What gas station have you been to that will take them back, or exchange for other tickets? None. You're buying the next 5 tickets off the roll. So what if you know that 1 out of the 5 has a really good shot at winning - you already paid for the other 4 and lost.
Funniest autocorrect that happened to me (on iPhone 4, but I just checked and it's fixed in most currently release)... I was getting ready to go on a trip to Washington DC and my local representative is pretty active on twitter, so while I quickly posted a tweet:
"Hey I'm heading to DC tomorrow, any chance for VIP tickets to the Whitehouse"?
The problem was, Whitehouse autocorrected to 'Whorehouse'. I didn't realize this until the next day. My rep had a sense of humor when I deleted that tweet and sent another the next day (apologizing for the first)... Something like "Very peculiar typo"..

Only place I use VGA anymore (and have used in the past 4-5 years) is for overhead projectors in conference rooms.
I'm baffled why it's so hard to put some dropdown on gmail (or a set of checkboxes) that say "Here are the languages I can speak/read:", and let me pick English. I'm getting a ton of Russian spam coming in with a character set I don't even know,... seems like that would be incredibly easy way to filter some of this stuff.
Comon, this isn't just AT&T. My *Verizon* 8830 phone has been "crippled" for about 2 weeks before the iPhone came out.
I called Verizon and inquired why my phone doesn't have the GPS turned on, and after getting to some 'data expert', I was told that the reason is Blackberry won't turn over some API or something to allow Verizon to enable this.
Now, I doubt that's really the reason, but again - this isn't some AT&T and/or Apple stunt.
So, if you get a PS3 on day 1, you can turn it around on ebay for 1500-2000. (Which sickens me). So, that's a 900-1400 profit. Let's assume $1400. So, that's $200/day for standing in line they're making - which is probably a lot more than these kids make in their normal days jobs (if they have one). Not a bad deal, I guess.
Now, I really want a PS3, but we already have a next-gen console out there which is finally getting some quality titles. I'll have no problems playing Gears of War for a month or two while it's hard to get my hands on a PS3. There really isn't anything that excites me about the PS3, well, until the next Gran Turismo comes out.
My company has been in the middle of the road - until recently. One day, I was attempting to download an update to one of my favorite Firefox extensions, and low and behold - mozilla.org was blocked by our firewall.
I thought this was just an oversight or something, so I submitted a request (like many others I've done in the past) to get mozilla.org unblocked - and was given a message sorta like this:
"Mozilla and Firefox are now blocked - not approved software anymore, due to a vulnerability identified in a pre-1.0 version of Firefox"
Huh? So I'm to run this thing I haven't run in a LONG time called Internet Explorer? Umm
When I pressed them, their response was "with IE, even if there are 100 patches released every week - at least we have an automated way to distribute them to the thousands of systems in the corp. With Firefox, there is _no_ way to do this - so a single vulnerability puts us at a much greater risk"
Now, I'm no Microsoft admin or anything - so I'll look to the community here: am I getting smoke blown up my ass? Is this just a case of ignorance by my admins? Or, are they being honest? If they are, I think this is something that should definitely be addressed if we're ever going to get FF accepted in corporate America.

Jim is my enemy. But Jim is also his own worst enemy. And the enemy of my enemy is my friend. So, Jim is actually my friend.
But...

Your laptop is nearly as big as your TV? Dude, you need a bigger TV. (Or, a smaller laptop)
Man, that page sure makes it seem that Blu-Ray sucks ass. I'm not sure what they based their selections off of...
If you want some better lists to work form, the guys over at avsforum are a much better information source, if you ask me:

What does Microsoft have to do with this?

These would definitly solve our immigration problems on the US southern border. Screw fences.

... last night, I noticed they tracked down a blog entry to an IP address that started with a number in the mid 300s.
