First Look at YellowTAB's Zeta
Gentu writes "Great news for the BeOS fans. After Be sold its IP to Palm, many said that the BeOS was no more, but a new startup company from Germany, YellowTAB, was able to get hold of Be's source code and form the future of the never-released BeOS 6 ('Dano'), under the name 'Zeta'. YellowTAB added a lot of new goodies to the OS and brought it up to speed. OSNews features the first ever preview of Zeta with a lot of good information, along with some screenshots."

Does anyone have any plans for a port of apt-get to BeOS? My work on Debian/Windows XP is almost complete, and win-apt-get is a stunning piece of work. But don't get me wrong...I love BeOS like I love Bruce Perens. be-apt-get would be the fucken shit. Anyone willing to set up a SourceForge site to host this bad boy?

Whether it's for Amiga, BeOS, Windows, *BSD, Linux, whatever, all zealotry is basically the same. It's the mindless fanaticism of $WHATEVER that's entertaining, not just the fact that some people insist on living in the past (in the case of Amiga). ;)
And don't get me started on the Slashbots
it is said in the elite hacker circles i move in that much of the code for the Be TCP/IP stack comes directly from debian's apt-get. anyone know anything about this?

Who still cares about BeOS?
The reviewer, Eugenia Loli-Queru. She is just about the most vocal and annoying Be fan on the internet. OSNews started as her soapbox for Be, and she cannot help but interject in *every* review that she writes, some mention of why Be is better than Windows/Linux/BSD/sex/God.
I shudder to think what the text of the review is like, now that she's writing about the supposed BeOS 6.
Hey, moderators, I'm not trolling. Look here or any other slashdot story based on a Eugenia review, you'll see that I'm not alone, nor deserving of -1, Troll!
Didn't want to waste my perfectly good karma, but well...
I don't have anything against Eugenia, but her reviews are only good if all you care about is eye candy and rounded windows. From a technical standpoint, they are completely worthless. She's a web designer, and it surely shows in her way of reveiwing. Personally, I don't give a flying fuck if the Zeta logo is ugly... I tend to care about performance and stability. And no, saying that it boots in 23 seconds in her fabled dual 533 celeron is not a good benchmark.
I do read her reviews, mainly to see the snapshots... If I want a good technical review, I won't go get it from OSNews (nor from /. for that matter). It's a bit like reading Roblimo's articles... from a technical viewpoint they're worthless, but they're sometimes fun... that's it

...Basically anything with "design" folowing it that isn't technically oriented.
Windows users:
1. Love to think that they know how to use a computer, but scream like girlies at the sight of a command window.
2. Love to tongue Bill Gates' asshole clean every time a new version of WeenDOS is released.
3. Are easily suckered into thinking that the OS has new feature because it looks different... "Ooohhh... shiny!" (Think about how interior decorator that sounds. Just add the lisp and we're in homo central.)
Mac Users (pre OSX):
1. Always preoccupied with looks rather than real abilities. Look at Steve Jobs. Has he EVER coded a thing in his life? "Does this outfit make me look fat?" (Add the lisp again) Face it, the OS should have a logo on it that says, "OS by Steven"
2. The jobs that homos tend to have are: graphic design, web design, basically anything with "design" folowing it that isn't technically oriented. And what is the Mac good for? Web desing. Graphic design.
3. The most damning evidence? When Mac OS X came out, all the Pre- OS X fags started whining and crying about how "ugly" it is and how much more like "Windows" it is and how they will NEVER use it.
So there you have it ladies and gentlemen. Conclusive proof that Mac and Windows users are, indeed, either women or fags. They appropriately should carry the moniker: "fanboi".
Linux, BeOS, BSD and OS X users tend to be the most intense expression of masculinity in the computing arena. They work with the REAL machine. Not some piece of shit little GUI. Hardcore Linux 4EVAH!!!!

As to the rest of her opinion, its like getting your opinion on a decent review... you don't know what you're talking about, but you sure are serious about it.
C'mon give it up. This is a girl whose favorite actor is brent spiner. She comes across as "cute" rather than interesting. If that floats your boat for hardware reviews, then you should be happy. I always believe people who are easily satisfied are amongst the happiest on the planet.
