  1. The only way SCO can save itself on SCO SCO SCO! · · Score: -1
SCO is obviously in some pretty serious trouble here. Lawsuits are expensive, and they seem to be fighting them on every front. Even if they achieve a degree of legal success, their core product (SCO Unix) is obviously under serious assault from the various Linux vendors.

My question to the directors of SCO is this: Is Debian GNU/SCO out of the question? Is sco-apt-get not a possibility? Could Bruce Perens be potentially offered a position as a Linux evangelist to bring credibility to this endeavour? Could RMS please take a shower?

    Thank you.

  2. Why BeOS failed on First Look at YellowTAB's Zeta · · Score: 1, Funny

The failure of BeOS as a mainstream operating system is attributable to 2 missing pieces:
    - a superior package management tool, such as apt-get.
    - visual basic, an essential requirement for any serious fortune 500 company.

it could also be argued that jean-louis basse as a leader was seriously at a loss to compete with the likes of the uncompromisingly ambitious bill gates, the eccentric marketing genius of steve jobs, or the laughable irrelevance and sheer disregard for personal hygiene of richard stallman.

  4. a proposal for the apt-get faithful - on First Look at YellowTAB's Zeta · · Score: -1, Troll

Does anyone have any plans for a port of apt-get to BeOS? My work on Debian/Windows XP is almost complete, and if i may say so myself, win-apt-get is really a stunning piece of work. But don't get me wrong...I love BeOS like I love Bruce Perens. be-apt-get would be the fucken shit. Anyone willing to help me out if I set up a SourceForge site to host this bad boy?

    Thank you.

Does anyone know if IBM is making Debian GNU/Linux available on these systems? As this previous post states, it would only be fitting that the only truly free Linux distribution be delivered pre-installed on these systems in such a poverty-stricken country.

debian - if it was more indian, it'd come with free naan bread and be stealing your white-ass IT jobs.

something a lot of people might not be aware of is that apt-get supports remote access to files over ssh.

of course, the remote files in question have to end in the '.deb' suffix, but being able to retrieve files from any computer by just saying "apt-get user@host:/my/file.deb" is pretty powerful.

before too long, you too may find, as i have, that it is just easier to name all your files in .deb, just to allow their painless retrieval using this powerful and much underappreciated tool.
