This is a reflection of those men and not Xianity. Such men have always triggered a considerable amount of resistance and resentment from the religous establishment. Xianity has always had a dark side that would allow it to be mired in theocracy. There are even xian factions now in the US that would gladly institute their own version of a Taliban regime if they had the power to do so.

Any book requires the proper cultural context in order for it's "original intent" to be understood. A mindless fundie would read that passage and gloss over that whole _mind_ bit. That even assuming that they ever see a proper translation of the relevant passage.

This is how Muslims and Xians can be so different from any variety of Jew.
