MandrakeSoft Roundup

uninet writes "MandrakeSoft, the French GNU/Linux distributor who filed for bankruptcy protection one year ago last week, announced today that its first fiscal quarter of 2004 resulted in a positive operating result of 280,000. The company also announced Beta 1 of Mandrake Linux 10.0 today." Additionally, tkittel writes that "Mandrake has just announced on their club pages that they will release an updated version of their 9.2 ISO's (but just for club members). This is due to popular request after the numerous updates after the initial release." OSDN's own Robin Miller had a chance to talk with MandrakeSoft's CEO and learn more about the company's future plans.

    The conversation goes like this:

    - Hello, 911, how can I help you?
-Yes, someone is trying to break into my home and kill my children!
-'Kay, ma'am, stay calm. Are you a negro?
    -Huh?
    -Are you a negro?
    -Uh, yeah.
    -'Kay. Bye.
    -But ...!
    - [click]

This is the usual greeting for negroes in Williamsburg, Lousiana when calling emergency services. But no more.

Starting this week, 911 operators in Williamsburg will be forced by law to give higher priority to negro callers than police dispatches to a car alarm.

"This is outrageous", says Billy Joe Bob, a 911 operator since 1984. "This [expletive] Democrat governement is killing us.", he declared. "What next, dipatching actual police officers to a negro neighborhood?"

The new law, RL-215, was put into effect last week.Known supporters of this new law are known preacher/actor Al Sharpton an circus freak Michael Jackson.
When contacted by phone, Al Sharpton declared that he did not "wanna come round Alabama[sic], cuz last time them people received me with stones and shit. You people is crazy!". Michael Jackson could not be contacted. An answering machine at Michael Jackson residence/hole-in-the-ground greeted our reporters with monkey shrieks.

The police chief of Williamsburg didn't answer our queries over the phone when contacted. Instead, he drove to our building asking for the reporter that called him a while ago. Visibly angry, he proceeded to punch one of our reporters in the eye.

While leaving, he declared " Bulls---. This is all a piece of sh--. Fu----- negroes!.

Speak from your mouth and not from Uranus. Your first link shows only that they're not getting science data back from the rover due to an unknown glitch, even though it's still responding. Never mind the fact that the rover is in fact running VxWorks, which you apparently didn't bother to research. Have a look. It is running your prized "quality, time-tested RTOS" after all. It's simply in a failure state.

As for the second link, they're using Linux with NVidia drivers for the visualization of the data. That happens on Earth, a planet you may not be familiar with. As for the rest of your supposed point, it's being run on a PowerPC embedded system, which is radiation hardened and quite a bit different from your average Mac. PowerPC chips are commonly used in embedded systems, due to their reasonable power requirements, price, standardization and reliability.

I can hardly believe that I'm dignifying this rubbish with a response, but I'd hate to see people fall for your drivel... Go home, troll.
