KDE 3.2.2 Released
An anonymous reader writes "The KDE Project today announced the immediate availability of KDE 3.2.2, a maintenance release for the 'advanced and powerful free desktop for GNU/Linux and other UNIXes'. The new version provides corrections of problems reported using the KDE bug tracking system and enhanced support for existing translations. Mirrors found here."
I just compiled 3.2.1 this weekend!!! :)
On the plus side, I do get to try out every last point release of gawk and grep.
What I'm listening to now on Pandora...
Disclaimer: This is not intended to be a flame, but it may piss off some of the "K" zealots. If you don't like it, don't read it.
Does anyone else ever notice how arrogant the KDE announcements are? They make statements like this: "The KDE Project today announced the immediate availability of KDE 3.2.2, a maintenance release for the latest generation of the most advanced and powerful free desktop for GNU/Linux and other UNIXes."
Now, I really wouldn't care, but it might misslead some users. It sounds as if there are no decent alternatives. Apple got slammed for making similar claims about their G5, why isn't it such a big deal in the open source world.
I don't know, maybe I am being too picky
Another disclaimer: I like and use both GNOME and KDE, so I am not biased about this issue.
Life is offtopic.
I mean... It's already in Debian! :-)
Can the KDE Desktop be made to run on Windows, using the available X Servers and maybe MinGW?
I normally would complain about just getting the
previous version of KDE compiled and running on my
ancient Sun box just last week, unfortunately I haven;t
been able to get any version of KDE 3.2.x to run so far.
Maybe this version will work.
