An article from "The Nation"? Shame shame shame . For those of you who are unaware, "The Nation" is a far, far, extraordinarily far left publication that specializes in sensationalizing rumors and hear-say. Anything that they print can be discarded as pessimistic, far-left filth. Putting one of their stories on the/. frontpage just encourages their irresponsible type of journalism.
Yes, and may I direct your attention to http://calendar.google.com./ Anything else (ie http://whales.google.com/ results in a domain lookup error. Funny that calendar.google.com just redirects to google.com. hrrmmmmm....
I'm noticing some considerable speed enhancements. Loading a page full of/. comments renders instantly and that cool effect on google.com/ig where you drag the boxes around and they turn transparent is very fast now. I'm really glad that performance has been taken into consideration in the recent work.
I would actually argue that America is becoming weaker because of foreign influence eroding our perfect Anglo Saxon/Christian culture. The culture of old lives on only in the "Red States" and the remaining WASP population in the "Blue States" is severely contaminated by foreign, liberal ideology. It's basically the same thing that has happened in Europe to make our fatherlands of old become crippled with left-wing ideology, mostly from the Muslims and the Jews. In addition, our Zionistic (Jew) media has made it a point to make anyone who holds on to American values feel wrong and out of place. So, from my point of view (as a pure WASP), I see America being destroyed not by the Jesus Freaks, but by the blacks, Jews, Muslims, and hippies.
China's advantage is it's sheer numbers. It can pump out little worker drones and scientists like they're nothing to do the government's bidding. But just like the Cold War against the Soviets, we must prevail somehow.
With Sony extending and contributing to OpenGL for the PS3, one can only speculate upon the impact that they will have on Linux (and Mac!) gaming. Historically, DirectX has always been ahead of OpenGL, but with Sony siding with open source, maybe things will even up. We may have a serious graphics API war approaching.
I run Ubuntu and play WoW all the time. While games don't run as fast as they do nativly in Windows, the convenience is undeniable. I'd recommend any debian or rpm based distrobution because Transgaming distributes Cedega packaged with both of those.
Another main theme was the propagation of diversity and the benefits inherit in having a diverse society. At the end when Motoko merges with the puppet master, the idea was to disrupt the puppet master's linear method of evolving, and causing him/it to change like a human, creating a method for causing diversity in machines. This was supposed to create ambiguity as to whether the major or the puppetmaster where human or machine.
Dude. I do not want to have to discuss the button order issue again, but I feel compelled to respond in a quick and concise answer. I think it has been well-established that button order is just a matter of preference, and works just as well either way. The user get used to seeing the buttons in a certain order, and they're happy. That's really all there is to it.
There will be a coop mode in the X-box verion of Doom 3, but that won't be out until November. I hope coop is added in a patch or something seeing as how they will have already done all the work to write it and such.
Just look at this Bioware poll. The question is "What platform(s) below do you both own and play games on?", and 54% of responses are Linux. http://www.bioware.com/_poll/view_poll.html?pollID =136
"Sony says it will be better than the Xbox 360's features."

I bought one a logitech ultrax keyboard, and it's by far the best keyboard i've ever used.

ads? What ads? Seriously, i've been playing games on Steam for a while, and I haven't seen any ads.

Yeah, gnome-look.org is a good site for gnome artwork.
but maybe they should have put it up with a little more time remaining (one week left).
Why not use GTK+2? It uses C, and it's just so pretty!

Didn't you know? If Steve Balmer says it, it becomes true.
Yeah. It's amazing.
I agree. Absolutly.
Unfortunatly for us, what's on /. is not representative of what's actually going on in the tech world.

You must be thinking of the old GTK+ (gtk 1). Also, GTK+ 2.4 fixes the ugly file selector problem. The new one is a lot more usable.
