Did anyone else notice that a good chunk of the ads are for copycat sites? A new concept and matching phrase, "pixel ads" coined and then run into the ground in the space of four months. I love the Internet.
Mona is never actually naked in the game, but they included a fully nude (and much better looking than the ones in GTA) model of her along with a seperate towel model that they used to cover her up. I think one of the first mods created was the "Naked Mona Level".
You've got to be kidding me. VLC is pretty cool, but it's got a ways to go to be a full media player. phpBB is definitely lagging behind other software like vBulletin and IPB.
I think per-file permissions are a major reason why Linux hasn't been accepted on the desktop. It'll be interesting to see if Microsoft can match that level of security without making it so much of a hassle.
"A professor and graduate students wanted to show that most journals will publish anything if it sounds "academic" enough. So they wrote a paper that was hog-wash, made no point, was just a bunch of academic sounding prose. And guess what? They got published."
There have been numerous tests (such as this one) trying to see how quickly incorrect information is removed. Those errors were never noticed, while another test says it was only hours before the mistakes were fixed. Here's another article about disputes over Wikipedia entries. I tend to agree that Wikipedia's professionalism might actually make it more dangerous because people are more likely to trust it.

No, the one that the community gained through things like your post. Acting like they're the saviors of humanity, here to help us poor, ignorant people who are too stupid to realize they're better than us. I'd say that's a pretty good description of elitism.
On the few forums I read where some members are female, most of the moderators seem to jump to their defense at the drop of a hat. Everyone gets insulted on the Internet, but guys really don't care what happens to other guys.
Man, I thought Apple had invented some sort of integrated webcam that allowed you to have video as your background. Did it really take people this long to think of this? What's next, taking a screenshot of the desktop and putting that as the background as a prank?
Searching by image is exactly the killer app that would cement google as the industry leader. However, given their current neglect of even the basic image search, I doubt it'll happen. Even just being able to search for similar images would be dreamy.
"Who's to say that the content you're accessing with a network tool - say, even a web browser - is appropriate?"
The people who own the place where you live, the network you're connecting to, and possibly even the computer itself.
Calling it censorship is ridiculous. Most universities and ISPs forbid you to run a web server off their connection. This has nothing to do with free speech, it's just good business practices. Trying to beg for sympathy for BitTorrent is getting old.
I can't imagine people wanting to own movies for this, but maybe if Blockbuster felt like stocking yet another format it'd be good for keeping yourself entertained on a road trip or during class. Although it still seems better suited to shorts instead of full movies.
Why doesn't Apple get in trouble for bundling applications with their OS? They actually include useful, commercial level software, too. Is it just because of the way they distribute that lets them get away with this?

Whatever man. All I know is that I'd see some tits (apparently real nice ones) and then have an abundance of lube.

"shouldn't this open source radio support all popular formats?"
.avi files, they might as well include it.
Yes. But regardless of how good it is, ogg is definitely not a popular format. Although if they're allowing
It is a bug. (see also here and here)
It looks like it's been fixed and rebroken several times.
I'm guessing the sequential numbers might bring up suspicion of money laundering. Then again, maybe I watch too many police dramas.

Try the postmodernism generator.

Bah. They should just let us run SQL queries on their database. They can handle it.

"How is this different than say, the no call list?"
Because there's no such thing as an unsolicited web site. It's more comparable to the do not call list blocking me from calling the telemarketers.
