It's Just the 'internet' Now?
This morning Wired News announced that 'web', 'net', and 'internet' will no longer be capitalized in their stories. Is this the next logical step after ditching 'e-mail' in favor of 'email' , or should the global computer network still be treated with a proper name? We refer to it as the Internet. Corporations have intranets. The capitalization conveys meaning. Wired's usage is wrong.
Um... reread what you wrote. I don't necessarily agree with Wired's decision, but in that particular case, capitalization does not convey meaning. Spelling does. Internet vs intranet. So does the article: "the" vs "an". WTF are you talking about?
