Caller ID Spoofing Firm Gets Death Threats

Jepson said he had received harassing e-mail and phone messages and even a death threat taped to his front door -- all of which he said came from people opposed to his publicizing a commercial version of technology that until now has been mainly used by software programmers and the computer hackers' underground. Or is this an interesting exercise in hypocrisy? I mean, the second someone comes up with technology to track people, /. goes nuts with indignation and right issues. But when someone comes up with a way to avoid tracking people, they're still indignant?

I'm admittedly not the brightest individual, but I MUST be missing something here.

As for myself, I will just ignore the problem unless it rears its ugly head at me. (Yes, that is speaking for my own lazy, unsympathetic self here. Yes, I am a bastard and don't care about this because it doesn't affect me, but at least I don't mind letting people who are affected by it try to do something about it.)
