GTA: San Andreas Radio and Soundtrack
crashnbur writes "Rockstar has updated their Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas web site with new information about the game's soundtrack and the in-game radio stations! Two versions of the soundtrack will be available Nov. 23 -- one 2-disc set of selected tracks, and the massive 8-disc boxed set! Rumor has it we'll hear in-game news and weather breaks just like real radio. Audio samples are available on the web site, and a full track listing is expected this Monday, October 18. But no word yet on Lazlow..."
Think we will get Maroon 5?
if it's anything like the last ones, it'll be great.. too bad more games couldnt have good quality music in them..
Chatterbox in GTA3 was very funny, but the talk stations in VC were completely unfunny and obnoxious. Maybe they thought that being more over the top would be funnier?
So it's a refreshing change that the hype around GTA: SA is about it's music and not that it has 6 trillion teraquads of polymorphic bitmaps.
Acting stupid isn't much fun when there's someone around who knows better
Something tells me i'll have it tuned to Radio X for most of the game. Rage Against the Machine, plus a DJ with an attitude? ("I'm Sage - and yes that is my real name. And if you don't beleive me you can go fuck yourself"). Oh hell yeah.
Is it considered fair use to rip a copy of radio stations in the game to listen to it in my car? If its of the same quality as vice city's, its better than the crap in my area. The weather reports are probably just as acurate too ;-)
After playing BFV, I realized how much a soundtrack adds to the game. Listening to all the music in the game made me feel just like I was in Vietnam in the 60's.
WAR! HUH!

It's been announced awhile back that AFI's cover of Nine Inch Nails' "Head Like a Hole" will be on the Alternative Rock station.

The American Film Institute?
I loved his shows. Please let him be on this one. It aint a GTA game unless you are running away from the cops while hearing how he got kicked off the rock station.
This franchise is fixing to become the Lord of the Rings of videogames....

Man I can't wait to see the full track listing details. It probably seems a bit sad but the soundtrack listing is one part of the game that I was very interested in seeing and after having a listen to the sample radio stations I can't say I'm too disappointed!
Hearing "Poison" be Bell Biv Devoe took me back a fair bit (and I'm a little embarrassed that after about 12 years I still know most of the words). Also thought RATM was interesting; what with hearing the DJ swear in the intro gives me hope that they won't put on some censored version of the song. Hope we get some NIN on there as well.
Sounds like there are two stations that play funk/soul. which is nice (yay!).
My biggest surprise was the KJAH reggae stations song "Chase the devil" by Max Romeo & The Upsetters. One of my fav songs. Couldn't believe my ears.
They did put out the soundtrack as a boxed set. I remember picking it up and looking at it at Best Buy one day.
No TiVo and no caffeine make me something something...

I was hoping they would add a classical music station like in GTA 3 =/
...It will kick ass. I have the boxed set from Vice City, and it is totally worth owning. Nothing better than having that "Living in Vice City" feel as you tool around in your shitty car, trying to drift corners and wishing you had a pair of Uzis.
Imagine on the x-box they set it up so instead of listening to the radio off the dvd you can instead use your x-box live account to connect to streaming radio stations from Rockstar.
The playlists could be massive, the talk stations could be updated and topical, they could have live radio events where people would play at a certian time and hear exclusive interviews and what have you..
It would be a very unique use of XBL.
You start seeing pink arrows everywhere.
"Sic Semper Tyrannosaurus Rex."
That website is about 3 times bigger then my screen. I knew I needed a bigger screen.
From what I see at the moment, i'll probably be listening to Radio X the most.
Oh wait, the music has loaded now, sounds pretty funny actually.

Are you refering to GTA VC or GTA III? GTA VC had a box set, and from what I can tell GTA III did not have the soundtrack released on CD or in a box set.
