Tankjumping in Halo 2
The original Warthog Jump video from Halo is a hilarious and informative way to learn about game physics. An Anonymous reader wrote in to mention a Spare Time production in which they try to recreate the essence of the experiment. "A tank on top of a shield in Halo2 proves to be quite an experience! We got it on tape. Enjoy!"
get the bittorrents and fire extinguishers ready :)
These guys have a lot of time on their hands....
If it wasn't for C, we would be stuck using BASI, PASAL and OBOL.
How would someone go about setting up a Bit Torrent server to seed this movie?

I was playing Delta Halo this weekend, when I found my tank suddenly flying through the air, as I was going over an elevated section with lots of those sheilds. I knew that sheild jumping was a time-honored practice in Halo, for getting out of Maps like "Truth and Reconciliation", I didn't realize that they made it work for vehicles as well.
I guess the use of Havok made the work of such heroes as Frogblast, Dark Helmet, Randall Glass somewhat different for Halo 2.

The anonymous guy's email address is aidansteele@gmail.com -- could his name be Aidan Steele perhaps? Maybe he rot13-ed twice for added anonymity.

I was playing a game in Zanzibar with warthogs when I noticed the explosive crates... When I drove into them, I did at LEAST 8 flips in the air (barrel rolls) It would be interesting to see what would happen if you rounded all of them up and drove into them... or better yet, attack them with an energy blade... interesting...
Fastest BT ever. I got it in like, 45 seconds.
This is truly groundbreaking stuff. Pixar's got their work cut out for them when they release Cars with stuff floating around like this. And these guys rendered the whole thing on a 700MHz PC!

And wondered how the bloody hell I ended up airborn, thanks to the guys who made it for explaining it.
Has anyone tried this stunt in Halo (1)? Maybe it works there too... I'll have to pull out my XBox and give it a try.

And people wonder why some don't RTFA.
Why is someone's plaintext email address on the frontpage of Slashdot?
/. editors have some beef with this Aidran Steele fellow so they decided to abuse their power to get him sent a bunch of crap to his account?
Bit irresponsible, don't you think?
Perhaps the submission really was anonymous and the

For some reason, every time someone talks of "jumping" techniques in Halo, I'm somehow, somehow reminded of the phrase "crash-jumping", even though that has little to do with Halo as such...
I did this ages ago. Never got any attention.a lo.forum.pl? read=506339

The website is now back up again, who knew that it'd go down so quickly! A big thankyou to the webmaster of edwardk.info for that speedy BT tracker, it really saved us.
;-)
Thanks all for the support.
