Ask mc chris
Many of you are no doubt familiar with the works of mc chris. He's probably most well known as the high pitched rapper on the track 'Fett's Vette' that you probably have an MP3 of somewhere. In addition to several highly entertaing albums, he's also the voice of MC Pee Pants (Aqua Teen Hunger Force) and Hesh (Sealab 2021). He's now touring, but you better already have tickets since he sold out his first 8 shows (including my local venue. The wife is very unhappy with me for not getting tickets in time). He'll also be performing at the Penny Arcade Expo later this year. This is your chance to ask him those burning questions. Standard Slashdot interview rules apply: Ask here, and we'll pick from the best of them and then wait patiently for Chris to bless us with his words.
If you guys don't know who he is, why bother to reply to the story? I don't want to read about Linus, but I don't post replies like a jackass.
/.ers an even worse name. Just ignore the stories you don't care about.
Chris is good at what he does, and is getting even better. Go download some of his music, he has an album you can download for free called "Life's a Bitch and I'm her Pimp" it has a song on it about how Boba Fett bounty hunts so he can pay for his Corvette.
Don't post assholeish comments to give us
Not a Twitter sockpuppet... but I wish I was.
I recognize the same voice as both Hesh and on ATHF.
I'm not impressed by his character work or rapping at all. Maybe I'm a minority with this opinion, but there are thousands of really talented people out there in these fields - and he's not one of them.
In the Aqua teen theme song, it says "Meatwad get the money, see. Meatwad get the honeys, G."
However, it has been proven time and again that Meatwad gets neither money nor honeys. Please explain this discrepancy.
That statement is absolute proof that rock n' roll is officially dead.
Well he is probably "keeping it real." My guess is he really is a geek so is rapping about what he knows.
Insert Generic Sig Here:
Anyway, who is this goddam Mc Chris that I have never heard about? And why is he so special for us techies that he is eligible to appear in a story on Slashdot?
I am trully puzzled.
Hatredman
As soon as your mate's shitty band gets played nightly in bumps, shows, and theme songs on something like, AdultSwim or somesuch.
The whole idea of being "geek" is that you don't fit in. If we needed membership to be geek, then those of us who are truly geek would never be let in the club to begin with.
Talk about missing the point...
Since the 'Happy Birthday' song is copyrighted, would you consider open-sourcing Hesh's Birthday Song under something like the Creative Commons License? I'd rather hear it than the cheezy home-brew birthday songs that restaurants are forced to devise.
Slashdot: come for the pedantry, stay for the condescension.
the one geek to out-geek them all. mc is one of the greats of nerdcore. listen to some of his free tracks at his website. "geek" isn't all about linux, guy.
> He's truly awful. His beats are terrible, his rhyming is
> sloppy. He's not a good lyricist.
I will concead this point, sir, the day you can come up with a more completely awesome rhyme for "Robitussin" than "Reganomic Repercussion."
i can't fucking believe all the negative comments in here. if you don't know who mc chris is, or you don't like him, stay the fuck away!
Wrong attitude. The article, and you, start with the misguided premise that everyone should know this guy. Rather than inviting those of us without a clue to learn more, you're getting antagonist and pushing people away who might otherwise give it a listen. I like some rap, but I certainly do not like the self-important bullshit that surrounds it. Someone saying I should already be a fan essentially results in me never being a fan, and that is the camp Slashdot, and you, have put "mc chris". Bang-up job, boys . . .
