Ico Sequel Info
Ico was one of the original innovative games for the Playstation 2, and the sequel is finally nearing its release date. Games.Kikizo.com (via Blues) has an interview, screenshots, and details on the upcoming title. From the article: "There's a young man on a horse, with a girl. You can see that she's unconscious, and this is because she has lost her soul. He takes her to a temple-like area that exists at World's End. He is trying to revive her and recover her soul. In order to do that, he has to defeat the Colossi."
yet looks a lot more action-packed than the original's overly puzzle/jumping based maze-running.
You say that like it's a good thing. Am I the only one that's tired of every game being "action-packed"? Is it wrong to want to play a visually stunning game that you use more of your brain to play than your lightning fast reflexes?
Not bad at all. But I would like to see the franchise survive and expand, and since the first one flopped so badly (to my surprise), I'm not averse to it taking a chance and changing the formula a bit to attract new fans.
The working title is Nico, apparently it's a clever play on words in japanese. Sort of like Driv3r only better. It isn't actually a sequel so that name wouldn't make sense for the finished game.
The lead character was never female. The japanese name is Wanda and the Collosus. Wanda is a female name but it's actually short for Wanderer, japanese stylee. So far the only official english title for the game is Shadow of the Colossus.
Where the fuck were you? I remember well when ICO was released, and I remember just about every review said it was great! And if I recall correctly (and I do) not many people talked about its innovation, but rather its emotional appeal. The graphics, for the time, were amazing and clean, not cluttered like so many of its contemporaries. And blurriness? Did you even play Ico, or just watch the free streaming videos on Gamespot?
Everyone's pants are "exploding" because it was a truly great game that came in under a lot of radars because it didn't involve guns, or blood, or hoes.
Check yo'self foo... know what the fuck you're talking about next time.
Note to self: No more arguing with the faithful.
"Ni" means two in japanese. So, N(Ico).
