OCRemix.org Partners with Electronic Arts
megli writes "OCRemix.org, the popular video game remix site, is announcing on its front page that it has entered a partnership with Electronic Arts. Their forums have erupted with arguments about the benefits and drawbacks of the partnership, especially considering EA's recent bad press." Update: 04/02 18:02 GMT by Z : April 1st hoax story.
Bizarre, yes, but good nonetheless.
Goo goo g'joob.
MY BRAIN ESS ESSPLODED
Hey, merging with McDonalds isn't a bad idea. I think. "Submit a remix, AND GET A FREE HAPPY MEAL(TM)!"
What's next, Slashdot merging with *GASP* Microsoft?
It's April 1st. It must be a joke. HAHAHA.
Well it looks like the party is over. The site just got Cease and Desist from EA Lawyers.
EA's lawyer sent OCR a cease-and-desist letter in response. Amusingly enough, they cited OCRemix.com when it's actually .org.
The cease and desist letter from Electronic Arts is WAY funnier than the original joke.
I can totally visualize the EA legal team in action.
"We've got to jump on this before it impacts shareholder value!"
Sometimes my arms bend back.
This is already on the wikipedia 2005 hoax page, which is linked in many of today's other posts.
Apparently EA couldn't take it anymore either. Look at this cease and desist letter they sent them... what a bunch of dicks. Can't anybody take a joke?
"A truly wise man realizes he knows nothing."
I'm going to do an impression, try and guess who I'm impersonating. "Hi, I'm a geek with no sense of humor. I hate it that people can do something with their own site that I don't like. Why doesn't the world revolve more around me"
WANNAWIKI Wannawiki WannaWiki WANNAWIKI!
Don't blame them.
I wish places would just stop with April Fool's Day jokes. None of them are ever funny, and they serve no purpose.
Well, ok, thegia.com's April Fools Day joke from a few years back was funny. They said they were shutting down on April 1, but, they really did shut down.
Now, that was good.
