Hubble Verdict: De-Orbit

theonetruekeebler writes "CNN reports that NASA has reached a final decision for the Hubble space telescope: De-orbit. At some future date a liquid-fueled rocket will dock with the telescope and fire, hurling Hubble into the ocean. However, "Our best estimate is we probably will be able to continue to do science as we're doing it ... somewhere into 2008," according to program executive Mark Borkowski."

All things must pass, all things must pass away
    Sunset doesn't last all evening,
a mind can blow those clouds away
after all this my love is up and must be leaving
It has not always been this grey

All things must pass none of life's strings can last
So I must be on my way and face another day

  5. Question on mod points by farmhick · · Score: -1, Offtopic

In the last two weeks, I have received mod points 4 times. In the two years or so that I have been posting, I only ever received them twice before this. Is it because I finally switched from IE to Firefox half of the time? Or am I now one of the 'oldtimers' because my number is under the half-million mark? (What is the current number level?)

Has anyone else been in this situation lately? I want to post comments, but spend all my time deciding where to mod comments. The hardest part is not automatically modding down all you liberals that say things that make me want to flame you.

I'm relatively new and I'd say I've received mod points 5-6 times in the past month. I just yesterday earned the ability to meta-moderate, but I've been moderating for about a month or so. Perhaps the slashcode has gone berserk due to the planets lining up or something?

This whole thread is offtopic but, ... I was getting meta-moderator points about twice a week for months, but I rarely get moderator points. I am just curious about the frequency. Does this happen to others? or is the algorithm capable of recognising that I take meta-moderating a little too seriously. (I always read the story and usually the entire thread, and when not 100% sure whether the mod is fair or unfair I leave it neutral.)

You better reply to this anonymously or you won't get mod points for a while.
