Get To Know Mach, the Kernel of Mac OS X
An anonymous reader writes "Linux is a kernel, not an operating system. So what is Mac OS X's kernel? The Mach microkernel. The debate around Monolithic (Linux) and Micro (Mach) kernels continues, and there is a great chapter online about the Mach system from the very good book 'Operating System Concepts'. Which design is better? I report, you decide." Warning: link is to a PDF.
Yeh, please stop saying this. It's not true and nobody cares about this argument anymore.

mind if i care?
most of you guys are using free software and not even appreciating it. i find that sick.
guess what, RMS is the reason why linux exists and why we are able to use it productively. he's the single most important reason as to why we still have open sourcecode at all.
if everyone was as ignorant as you are, we'd all be using trashy OS like windows and shit.
i, for my part, am really grateful for the things RMS has achieved and everytime i 'convert' some of my friends and relatives to a gnu/linux system, i'll give them a lesson about copyleft and freedom of information. so should you.
