PlayStation 3 Press Conference Tonight

The official unveiling of the PlayStation 3 is set to happen tonight, with folks such as the Guardian Gamesblog, Kotaku, and GamesAreFun live blogging the event as it happens. From the Guardian post: "The sign on the way into the Sony Press Conference is big - Wi-Fi access will be only available after the event. They lied - a quick wireless search has found me some access and now I'm on. The clock says 1.00pm but my body says 9pm. By the time Microsoft unveils the 360 again tonight I'll be ready for my cornflakes."

I wouldn't stress this point so much if the games shown so far actually brought something new to the table. Instead, developers just seem intent on winning over gamers with shiny colors and smooth animation, hoping that they'll just gloss over the mediocre, rehashed gameplay.

Maybe I'll be more convinced once I see an Xbox 360 title that isn't a sports game, racing game, sci-fi/tactical realism shooter, GTA clone, or generic fantasy-based RPG.

    Well, that was idiotic.

Let me guess you were one of the clowns writing equally dumb posts about the Dreamcast and the first xbox?

PS. Congrats on the self moderation...

    Bzzzt!!!!

Nice try fanboy. The stripped down cores of 360 without the OOE logic require careful hand tuning of code. The 360 is going to have a ton of games that feel like they are running on last year's hardware from just dumping Visual C code on the chip. Exactly what you would expect from the cutnpast directx monkeys who are the bulk of xbox developers.

The PS3 is turning out to be an utter dream to code for. The things we are doing with streaming are fucking insane even with the early devkits. Nothing but pity for the poor peecee coders stuck hand tuning code on 360 projects.

Uh, "was an in-order unit" WTF?

No one would be dumb enough to try to use what is close to the equivalent of three stapled together PS3 controller cores other than MS.

It's like they took an Oreo and a half, scrapped out the sweet middle parts and glued together three hard shells. Yuck. No one but die hard MS programmers are going to want to touch that.

MS is desperate and stupid. And now they are humiliated.
