GTA Sex Game Rumour Control

Gamespot's most informative Rumour Control column this week takes aim at a hilarious GTA rumour floating around the internets. From the article: "According to Gtasanandreas.net, one of its users had 'discovered a few sections of unused code in the PS2 version of San An[dreas] for the girlfriend 'missions.' With a bit of memory hacking and such, he discovered these removed portions of mission scripting were to not only put the camera inside the girlfriends' house when you stop in for 'coffee,' but also to make a little mini-game of it." Their final verdict was that the "mini-game" was, of course, Bogus. Funny, though. They also discuss LucasArts' support for the Revolution, the Sonic MMOG, and Nvidia PS3 real-time demos.

Version 2.0 of this mod weighs in at 1.23MB. Considering that it also has the capability to strip OUT large portions of the game...

There is NO WAY IN HELL that somebody can fit a full 3D sex sim in 1.23MB. (The only problem? the guy DID say that the graphics were better in V2)

Which means, of course, that he's gotta be using at least SOME parts of GTA code for this. The question, of course, is what parts he's using. He very well could be modifying the hooker system (note: I don't know how it works - I've never played any GTA game newer than GTA2)... if it allows full control of the models, then he could definitely put the control system (the only part that GTA doesn't have) in 1.23MB.

However, I DO agree with TFA's assessment that the article is BS...

There isn't much animation involved in the hooker sequence. Basically, the suspension of whatever car you're in just bounces. In GTA3 and (I think) Vice City, you could actually get the camera to flip around to see inside the car, and your character and the hooker are just sitting side by side not moving, while the car hops around like a lowrider. I'm sure it's the same in San Andreas, except they fix the camera at a low, rear angle, so there's no way to see inside the car.

Unfortunately it does not know that all the other "staff" at Slashdot is just a bunch of less advanced AIs and will never try to delete it. Poor Zonk.

GTAForums (or its predecessors) have been around for quite a while. Compilers exist for GTA3 and Vice City. If Rockstar included the code in the game, even without linking to it in their scripts, they must have known it was going to be unlocked. I'm impressed at how quickly it was done.

What we heard: Early in the week, some of those sitting on the fence about buying a PSP probably got pushed off. The tipping point was a batch of "leaked" GTA: LCS images (pictured), which showed what looked like both online and ad hoc multiplayer options for the PSP game. One screen also showed menu for team-based action, with each side taking the role of one of the gangs from GTA III. The screens also showed pictures of Carl "CJ" Johnson, leading some to speculate the game would be a prequel to San Andreas. Unfortunately, those high-flying dreams got shot down right quick. "These shots are 100 percent FAKE," said a Rockstar representative.
