PC Gamer Podcast Launched
An anonymous reader writes "PC Gamer magazine has started up a weekly podcast show featuring editors discussing the week in PC gaming news and interviews with big-name guests. The first episode discusses the new Chinese government's restrictions on gaming, Battlefield 2's accessibility, and an interview with Gas Powered Games founder Chris Taylor. Taylor, of Total Annihilation and Dungeon Siege fame, talks about the newly-released Dungeon Siege II, the upcoming Uwe Boll movie based on the Dungeon Siege games, and the 'spiritual successor' to Total Annihilation, Supreme Commander."
...I hate the term "podcasting" and sincerly hope that it will not be sticking around.
Great, yet another podcast. Honestly, if someone wants so desperately to hear people talk about games, or with those involved with games, then they should turn their televisions to G4. That channel's turned back into a big TV crapfest.
I'd love to read the Taylor interview but I'm not going to waste my time and bandwidth on an audio version. The guy is a game design hero, but that doesn't make his ummms and ahhs any more interesting...
Will the interview be in the magazine, on the website, or just for the neopseudoradio*?
*god dammit. "podcast".
PC Gamer had "PC Gamer Radio" when Shoutcast was first released. It was basically the same thing, but it was a stream at a specific time each week rather than a download. The only difference is that now "podcasting" is the lastest craze rather than streaming audio. Ziff-Davis Publishing even had an entire website of ad-free streaming talk shows called Give Me Talk which is unsurprisingly gone.
I liked the old CDs with the cheezy Macromedia Myst-alike walkthrough and Coconut Monkey. Though I thought Coconut Monkey was stupid, it was fun to hotspot-hunt cause they usually put in something neat if you looked around.
So?
using the term "podcast" which has NOTHING to do with casting, or ipods. thankyoucomeagain.
My name is coaxeus, and I approve this message. In fact, I think it is awesome.
I completely agree, call it what it damn well is. At most it's an audio weekly, it's a downloaded file. Sure the term would be valid if it was automagically beamed to your iPod regularly, whenever you were near an internet access point.
Until we have that, stop calling it this, kthx.

I'll be sticking with G.A.M.E.Radio thank you very much.
