Millions of Games

duncangough writes "With the recent rise in popularity of casual games and the seemingly established presence of community bookmarking sites such as del.icio.us, Millionsofgames.com is one of the first websites to provide an amalgamation of these two themes. MOG is a social bookmarking service for flash, shockwave and java games although any type of game can be added, such a MMORPGs or downloadable games like Zuma and Bejewelled."

This is really a pretty good idea for a site and I'd be especially interested to see what ads pop up down the road when they're getting a lot of visitors. I know my nieces and nephews will sit down at a computer and play some bizarre games that I've never seen or heard of before. I'd imagine once they get wind of this site, they'll be on there quite a bit. So who's the target market? Will they market to a younger teen crowd or will they market to adults (with purchasing power)? Either way, it semes like a pretty good way to get a site up with a lot of traffic.

Nope, you're not alone. I was going to post one of those 'I don't use Flash you insensitive clod!' threads but yours will do just fine.

People keep telling me that I'm missing a lot of good things by not using Flash but I don't find that my web experience is diminshed in any fashion. I can find the information I need without having to wait for a Flash ad to load or interfere with my searches.

Just so others out there don't bring the subject up, I don't care that FF has a FlashBlock extension. Not having Flash installed trumps the blocker.

For those that want to use Flash and Shockwave, more power to you. Hope you have fun. For me, I don't care to have that stuff on my system.

I am sad that /. would just post a plug for a website like this. Why not plug games.com or something? Just because it uses social bookmarking doesn't mean they should get a free "ad"... .... I wonder, was it really free, or did MOG pay for it?

If you are looking for classic online games like chess, othello, canasta etc. but without the hassle of pop-ups, flash ads etc., Kurnik Online Games (http://www.kurnik.org/) is the web site to go.

You'll find there many useful features like full games archive (for replaying), resizable game boards (hardly any site with casual games allows that), instant messaging etc. etc.

All games and features are free there of course
    (it's community supported).
