Metal Gear Solid Movie Confirmed
Gamespot has word that the Metal Gear Solid movie project is a reality. All we really know is that Uwe Boll will not be directing. From the article: "After assuring readers at length that German director Uwe Boll will not have anything to do with the project, as rumored, Kojima talked about the film. 'I have received many offers to adapt Metal Gear Solid, It has taken a long time, but we have finally settled on an arrangement,' said the revered designer. 'False facts aside, a movie project is underway. I have finalized a Class-A contract with a party in Hollywood.' Kojima did not mention the name of the party, a release date, or any potential directors or stars."
All we really know is that Uwe Boll will not be directing. everyone rejoice!
You constantly struggle for self improvement - and it shows.
Hooray for bad Engrish on fortune cookies
Kurt Russell of course - the original Snake Pliskin.
I just want to see how they work the box in.
;)
The box is easy. Now, how are they going to work in the ! marks over enemy heads?
If I have been able to see further than others, it is because I bought a pair of binoculars.
Those are the essential ingredients!
You must think in Russian.
. . .They leave out the Diazepam Snake used to steady his hands while sniping.
Kurt Russell?? That would kick ass since he is by far the best actor in the history of mankind.
Ever.
I honestly hope they do a good job with this. Hollywood has lost nearly all of my faith, when trying to make movies from games. It really is a hard sell. Those people who play games, and would best appreciate a movie, are the types of people who won't appreciate a movie, because they play games.
When you play a game, your creative side gets involved, and you make your own story up as you go along, no matter how sound a plot the game might have. That just isn't possible in a movie, especially when Hollywood shoves a precanned experience down your throat.
If you haven't seen it already, the new real-time trailer for MGS 4 doesn't seem like it needs a Hollywood counterpart. Just tape the in game play and release it on the big screen. :)
Ex nihilo nihil fit.
Chuck Norris, 'natch.

The similarity is just too striking. Also note that, if you take the letters S-N-A-K-E and hit them with a roundhouse kick to the neck, they equal N-O-R-R-I-S. Coincidence? I think not.
The grass is always greener on the other side of the light cone.
What, like they did for Titanic? Oh, wait...
Or maybe how serious and thoughtful Harry Potter is?
Or perhaps you're thinking of Spider-Man? Mission Impossible? James Bond?
If they can get a half way passable script, director, and actor, and maintain the spirit of the series, I don't think we need it to be serious; it can have all the cheese and melodrama of James Bond and be quite a successful movie.

Iroquois Pliskin: The cardboard box that you have is ideal for fooling your enemies. It's a very important tool for infiltration missions.
Raiden: Really?
Iroquois Pliskin: Of course. I can't begin to count the number of agents whose lives were saved by a cardboard box...
Raiden: You mean everyone's using them?
Iroquois Pliskin: Look, I'm not exaggerating when I say the success of your mission hinges on how you use that cardboard box. But in the end, a cardboard box is only made of paper. Handle it with care or it won't be of much use to you. Don't think of it as just another box. Treat it with love... Don't be rough. Okay?
----
Pliskin: [muttering] I lost a lot of good cardboard boxes thanks to you.
Raiden: What?
Pliskin: Oh, nothing.

They should consider getting David Hayter to adapt the game's script to a screen play. He did a fantastic job on the first two X-Men movies, and more importantly he is the voice of friggin' Solid Snake. I can't think of a better choice considering his unique and talented background.

Desperate days demand dire deeds.
At first, I was skeptical of someone being able to capture MGS into anything other than a video game - until I saw this: http://www.deviantart.com/view/29463025/.
If people dressed up as hobbits and wizards for Lord of the Rings and as Jedis and Sith for Star Wars, does that mean people will be showing up for the MGS premeire in cardboard boxes and mullets?
